Project Lead the Way

The PLTW Gateway program “empowers students to adopt a design-thinking mindset through compelling activities, projects, and problems that build upon each other and relate to the world around them. And as students engage in hands-on activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they become creative, collaborative problem solvers ready to take on any challenge.”

  • Collaborative, Engaging, and Steeped in Exploration
  • Focus on Design Thinking and Student-Driven Process
  • Aligned with our work with engineering, Next Generation Science Standards, and innovation practices
  • Understanding that student hands-on exploration inspires students’ engagement
  • Creative and critical thinking experiences embedded in the units of study
  • Middle school students will apply the concepts of physics, chemistry, and nanotechnology to projects such as making ice cream and cleaning up an oil spill
