Aims Today

  • Acquaint yourselves with who is also on your program
  • Confirm the flight details
  • Understand whether there are VISA requirements/declaration forms for the country of your travel
  • Go through the itinerary and packing lists
    • Clarify any specific details that will affect your ability to participate in the program (you need warm clothes, or a dry bag–whether you can swim)
    • Confirm any of the required details for the trip i.e. your size for wetsuits
  • Understand the rooming arrangements and share your preference for rooming
  • Share the mobile phone policy and expectations
  • Confirm your trip reporters and how we will communicate during the program

Baggage

Carry on Baggage

  • The baggage that you take on your flight needs to fit under the chair in front of you.
  • You will not be able to use the overhead bins. If you place a bag in the compartment, you will be charged accordingly by the airline.
  • This should be a small handbag, laptop bag, small backpack or a camera bag. It cannot exceed 40 (length) * 25 (width) * 20 (height).
  • This bag also needs to be less than 7kg

Check-in Baggage

  • Students are able to check-in a bag for the flight, with the weight limit 20kg
  • Please follow the specific airline instructions for clarification where necessary

Travel Documents

For students participating in the trip, the following documentations is required:

  • Hong Kong Identity Card
  • Travel Passport
  • Please ensure these documents are secured and up-to-date and valid.
  • Passports need to have at least 6 months before expiration at the time of travel

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the necessary VISAs secured to travel to your chosen destination.

Mainland China and Indian passport holders

  • Must complete online application form, applicants are required to monitor the visa process as a physical interview may be required to attend an appointment at Philippines Consulate General, you may find further information HERE

Mandatory for all travellers entering Philippines: Immigration & health eTravel form

  • Must complete within 3 days before arrival
  • Hong Kong Passport Holders should input “China” as their nationality while registering the eTravel.

Accommodation

  • It is important to note that this experience is not a holiday
  • Accommodation will be different to your usual holidays
  • This is all part of the experience
  • The photograph is the actual accommodation that will be used

Rooming

  • The rooming arrangements have been shared with trip leaders separately
  • By the end of the meeting, please ensure you have drafted the arrangements for all of your accommodation.
  • Trip leaders will need to confirm these arrangements on the Sheet that has been shared with them

Mobile Phones

  • Students are encouraged not to take their mobile phones with them on QW.
  • Any students who opt to take mobile phones with them do so at their own risk.
  • There will be a group of students on each trip who are assigned the responsibility of taking photographs and videos. They will then produce a video for the QW assembly, which will serve as an important memento from the week.
  • One of the primary goals of QW is to 'make connections, and build relationships'. Avoiding the distraction of mobile phones, or any other technologies, has been proven to be beneficial in this regard, which will enhance the outcomes and the experience.
  • In light of this information, you are not expected to have your mobile phones, or any other form of technology, with you during any of the activities.

Reporters

  • Two reporters;
  • #1 TBC
  • #2 TBC

  • The reporters will document the trip and create a one minute video to share with the school community
  • Daily photographs will be selected to share with parents at home in HK
  • The final video will represent a fantastic memento from the trip, whilst also ensuring you can focus on enjoying the experience.
  • Please let your lead teacher know if you are interested in this opportunity
