The comma after the word “used” in D&C 89:13 was first included in the 1921 edition of the D&C.
And without the comma the meaning could be interpreted completely different.
SPARINGLY IS DEFINED AS:
To use infrequently, occasionally, or with restraint.
Eating meat all the time, “sparingly” is an Oxymoron

Perhaps the Word of Wisdom is Christ’s invitation to come to the table of our Heavenly Mother, to receive Her nurturing through these foods and accept Her gifts.
