What is Title I?
Federal funding designed to support student achievement
•
Title I provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for schools serving higher percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
•
The purpose is to help all students meet challenging academic standards.
•
Title I services must be supplemental to the core program — students are considered first.

MBHS 2026–27 SPSA Priorities
Key 2026–27 actions identified in the MBHS SPSA
•
Reduce 9th-grade class sizes in Mathematics, Science, and English to strengthen the transition to high school
•
Expand ACES and teacher tutoring before and after school, with stronger MTSS identification and progress monitoring
•
Add a 1.0 FTE Resource Teacher to support Students with Disabilities and targeted academic intervention
•
Strengthen PLC collaboration and professional learning focused on literacy, mathematics, English Learners, and inclusive instruction
•
Increase counseling, family outreach, and student access to rigorous college and career pathways

Title I Funds [Federal Funds]
How funding eligibility is determined
•
Funds are allocated based on the number and percentage of students who qualify under district income/LCFF measures.
•
For 2026–27, LCFF Alternate Income Forms help determine eligibility and funding levels.
•
At MBHS, the goal is to use funds where they have direct impact on student learning and support.

Supplies may be allowable in limited cases but are generally not the strongest Title I use unless clearly tied to direct student need and SPSA goals.

Title I Parent Involvement Funds
A portion of Title I supports family engagement

Approximately one percent of the school’s Title I budget is used for parent involvement activities.
•
Funds must supplement district services and be tied to meaningful family engagement.
•
MBHS should prioritize activities that help families support learning, understand data, and participate in planning.
