Laurel History

  • Laurel Elementary School of Arts & Technology is the oldest elementary school in the town of Fort Collins and has been educating Fort Collins’ youth since 1906. The original building is on Laurel Street and is now Centennial High School.
  • Our current building was constructed in 1993. It is a beautiful architectural design called the Delany Model. There are 6 other schools in PSD of this design.

Mr. Garcia, Principal

  • I’m in my 9th year as Laurel’s Assistant Principal. I started working in schools when I was 19 years old, beginning in CT and NY before moving to Colorado. I joined Poudre School District in 2013 as a teacher.
  • My family lives just down the road from Laurel with our 3 daughters: Tennessee (11th Gr.), Nikola (8th Gr.), and Zasu (5th Gr.). They are following the neighborhood feeder system of Laurel Elementary School, Lesher Middle School, and Fort Collins High School. We love our schools and neighborhood!
  • This is my 3nd year as principal of Laurel
  • I am a Colorado Native and a first generation College graduate with a Master’s Degree! I am in my 22nd year of being an educator!
  • My wife Elizabeth and I of over 21 years, live in Fort Collins with our two children: daughter Ava (First year College Student @ GCU)) and son Oliver (7th Gr.)
  • We love public education and love Laurel!
