What Changes

Assembly

• Meets three times.
• Start of the Term of Governance; Election of Fin. App. Chair, Assembly Chair and appointment of E&O Chair.
• Budget Season; to discuss the budget.
• End of the Term of Governance; deciding on the slae of committees for the next term.
• Is the forum for elected members.
• Mandate can be expanded through bylaws.

Administrative Committee

• Standing communications channel.
• Links the support units to the Policy Committees.

E&O and the Constitutional Council

• The Constitutional Council is abolished.
• Interpretative power was not employed regularly.
• E&O, modified, takes over the function of the the Constitutional Council.

Secretary of the Assembly

• Responsible for communications and directing the support units.
• Has the same vote a every other Assembly Member

What Stays

Policy Committees

• Front and centre to the mission.
• Expanded and empowered.
• Stronger mandate and more resources, lead by elected people.
• Only subordinate to the Assembly.

Finance and Appropriation

• It is a critical function.
• There is very little wrong with it.
• Stays the same.
• Now enshrined in and protected by the constitution.

Support Units

• Outreach, IT, Recordkeeper, et al.
• Stays the same but under the Administrative Committee

Election Commission

• It just works.

• Impeachment Procedure
• Amendment Procedure

What Happens

Transition Commission

• Formed at the start of the next semester.
• Briefings for existing executive staff on the new roles, should they choose to stay on.
• Bylaw review session for compliance with new changes.
• The changes go into effect after the Spring Assembly elections.
