My Life

  • I grew up in Orange County and attended all local public schools.

  • I liked school. I was on the pep squad in high school and swim team.

  • I attended UCLA for my college education. I focused on computer programming.

Career Background

  • My first career job was working for a large aerospace company doing technical writing and technical training for engineering. As the computer industry started to expand they offered me a position in database design. I worked for this company until they moved to Florida and I declined the move offer.
  • I then got an amazing position with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where I traveled and consulted all over the world on the software the previous company trained me on. I worked for companies like JPL, Oracle, Boeing, Caterpillar. My office was out of my house, but I travelled a great deal.

Career Background

  • When I got married I stayed home with my kids and started a nonprofit that focuses on education. I still run this nonprofit today and all money goes back to education. I am still President of that company today.

  • I joined Microsoft three years ago. My position as Community Development Manager allows me to work with educators, students, small business and nonprofits by providing them training, and sponsorships. In addition I create and manage all product launches and big events.

Day in the life…

  • A day in my work life is very unique. I check my calendar each morning and always check my emails throughout the day. I average about 80 emails or more a day.

  • I am either managing large educational workshops, business workshops, planning events, or attending meeting with groups.
  • There are numerous benefits for working for Microsoft.

Day in the life…

  • I use computers all day long, with numerous applications
  • A specific project I am working on now is with the Anaheim Ducks. Each year I partner with them and we create a huge STEM project for 16,000 5th graders to attend and experience.

  • This year I’ll be bringing the VIVE a Virtual Reality machine for the students and educators to try out.

Day in the life…

  • There are numerous benefits for working for Microsoft. When I joined I received a personal Surface Pro computer, phone and numerous gifts that were mine to keep.

  • Medical benefits are 100% paid for by company. They match retirement benefits, discounted stock purchases. Generous vacation and sick time.

Who would enjoy a career in…

  • My position at Microsoft requires a very gregarious type of personality. I love to talk and make new friends and business partners. I love the company I work for therefore I am seen as an evangelist for our company. Being tech savvy helps as I have to present many times to companies.

  • Microsoft stores higher at the age of 18+. They also provide you with tuition reimbursement and part time hours while you attend college.

How does one become a …

  • Passion, drive and professional are three things Microsoft looks for in hiring.

  • College degree preferred but not required at Microsoft stores. Being fluent in other languages is very helpful. Volunteering in your community is always desired. Gaming can also help you with employment at Microsoft. Learning Microsoft software and hardware is also very much desired.
