PRESENT PASSIVE

• В англійській мові вживаються два граматичні стани: активний (дійсний) стан та пасивний стан.
• Активний стан (Active Voice) - це граматична категорія, яка вказує, що дія в реченні виконується підметом. 
• His parents love him. – Батьки його люблять.

PRESENT PASSIVE

• Пасивний стан (Passive Voice) – це граматична категорія, яка вказує, що підмет (хто? що?) не виконує самостійно дію, зазначену в реченні, а відчуває цю дію на собі, тобто є об'єктом цієї дії.
• His parents love him.

• He is loved by his parents. – Він

любимий батьками. (дослівно)

Forming Present Passive�

Affirmative Form

• Object + am / is / are + verb3 (past participle)

Question Form

• Am / Is / Are + Object + verb3 (past participle) ?
• Something is done by someone regularly / everyday / as expected...

Examples

• Active : The gardener waters the flowers

every evening.�Passive: The flowers are watered by the gardener every evening.��Active : Helen doesn't drink anything in parties.�Passive: Nothing is drunk by Helen in parties.�Active : My mother doesn't paint the walls.�Passive: The walls aren't painted by my mother.

� Active : Who sells umbrellas?� Passive: Who are umbrellas sold by?��

PAST PASSIVE

Affirmative Form

• Object + was / were + verb3 (past participle)

Question Form

• Was / Were + Object + verb3 (past participle) ?
• Something was done by someone at sometime in the past.�

Examples

• Active : The teacher corrected the mistakes.�Passive: The mistakes were corrected by the teacher.��Active : Did the little boy sell all the candy bars?�Passive: Were all the candy bars sold by the little boy?��Active : Lauren didn't eat any apples.�Passive: No apples were eaten by Lauran.��
