• In order to receive fee waivers for the SAT/ACT you MUST have a parent/guardian sign the Cedar Fee Waiver form if at least one of the requirements are met on the form!
• Students will not receive fee waivers until the form is completed by a parent/guardian.

1. If you have NOT scheduled your 1-1 meeting, please do ASAP! Please also schedule your Senior Meeting with your assigned counselor.
2. Register for the SAT/ACT! Know the deadlines!
3. Check your email daily!
4. If you are college bound, applications are open, so start applying (scholarships too)!
5. If you are military bound, know when the ASVAB is and get in touch with a recruiter!
6. If you are workforce bound, create your resume and start researching job options!

TRANSCRIPTS: How to request a transcript

In-State Colleges:

• Log into your GAFutures.org account and submit an electronic transcript request to the college of your choosing

Out-of-State Colleges:

• Email Mrs. Hayes or Mrs. Morris with your request including the admissions address. They will send it out via mail.

How to request a transcript on GAFutures:

Parent Involvement

• Check your student’s grades in Campus Portal
• Email their teachers if you notice a problem
• Check the parent newsletter that is emailed weekly
• Have conversations with your senior about realistic post-secondary options
• Check out all of the webinars throughout the school year
• Follow the month by month task timeline with our student
• Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need us

SCHOLARSHIPS!

• Check your email and the Cedar Scholarship Database regularly
• Start your search early & be patient
• Make sure you qualify for it
• Start local
• Be aware of the competition
• Write a great essay
• Be prepared to interview
• Be yourself

August & September

• Create Georgia Futures Account
• Create Collegeboard & ACT accounts
• Create Common App account-Make SURE you put your assigned counselor
• Start the year off strong in your classes
• Attend virtual college tours
• Create a list of schools you are interested in on a google spreadsheet OR on your College Board account (See Ms. Partridge for a template)
• Register for an ACT or SAT if you have not taken
• Create a running list of all activities, clubs, sports, jobs & volunteer work
• Schedule your senior appointment with your assigned school counselor

• FAFSA Workshop Night:
• October 12th 6pm - 8pm
• Make a google spreadsheet of the schools you are applying to and their requirements (See Ms. Partridge for a template)
• Make a separate sheet on the spreadsheet to list the scholarships you’re applying to
• Apply to 3-5 schools by Thanksgiving
• Start working on scholarships applications
• Watch out for early college application deadlines!!
• FAFSA Night

December & January

• Transcript requests to be sent through GAFutures.org (in-state) or paper (out-of-state) by emailing Ms. Hayes and/or Ms. Morris including the admissions address
• Make teacher & counselor recommendation requests at least 2 weeks in advance of deadlines
• Complete scholarship applications!! $$$
• Keep your grades high and your attendance up

• Complete any remaining scholarship applications-check your email regularly for new ones!
• Some schools have deadlines during these months
• Check the mail for Senior Letters (from counselor outlining grad status)
• One additional FAFSA workshop for students who have still not applied

• Time to decide on your destination
• Senior week: 3rd week of April for those who paid senior dues
• Make sure you are passing all classes
• Senior Exit Survey
• Confirm housing plans, freshmen orientation dates, course registration, and send deposits
• Last day of the term: May 20th
• Submit final transcript request to Mrs. Hayes via google form
