  • Permissions that are “baked in” to OER:
    • Revise (adapt, adjust, modify the content)
    • Remix (mixing content with other material)
    • Reuse (fully using content for any purpose)
    • Retain (making, owning, and controlling copies of content)
    • Redistribute (sharing original or altered versions)

What is OpenHawks?

  • Grant program supporting creation, adaptation, and use of OER by teaching faculty and graduate students
    • Goal: save students money and support their learning
  • Offers support for instructors who would like to use OER but need help (financial, time, editing, finding collaborators, etc.)
  • Finished projects saved to Iowa Research Online and distributed for external use
