Brave Space

Together we will create brave space

Because there is no such thing as a “safe space”

We exist in the real world

We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds.

In this space

We seek to turn down the volume of the outside world,

We amplify voices that fight to be heard elsewhere,

We call each other to more truth and love

We have the right to start somewhere and continue to grow.

We have the responsibility to examine what we think we know,

We will not be perfect.

This space will not be perfect.|

It will not always be what we wish it to be

But

It will be our brave space together,

and

We will work in it side by side….

  • Prioritize authenticity over politeness
  • Acknowledge discomfort is necessary for growth instead of avoiding issues.
  • Emphasizing conversation around critical topics rather than ignoring difficult issues.

Reflection Points

Pick 1-2 lines that stand out to you. Write down why.

Together we will create brave space

Because there is no such thing as a “safe space”

We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds.

In this space

We seek to turn down the volume of the outside world,

and

We will work in it side by side….

Imposter Syndrome

“People who struggle with imposter syndrome believe that they are undeserving of their achievements and the high esteem in which they are, in fact, generally held. They feel that they aren’t as competent or intelligent as others might think—and that soon enough, people will discover the truth about them. Those with imposter syndrome are often well accomplished; they may hold high office or have numerous academic degrees.”
