About My Education

  • I am originally from the Bay Area

  • I came to San Diego to attend UCSD and got my degree in Biology with a minor in Spanish Literature.

  • Attended SDSU for my teaching credential and master’s degree in Education Technology.

My Experience

  • This is my 22nd year of teaching
  • I taught math for 3 years and have been teaching 8th grade science since.

  • I have been teaching bilingual or DLI classes for over 15 years.

  • My husband is also a teacher and

we have two beautiful daughters in

eighth and seventh grade DLI.

Tips for student success in 8th grade

  • Stay organized
    • Have a system to keep track of assignments

  • Use TSP time effectively

  • Read your Jupiter messages daily

  • Communicate with your teachers if you need help

  • ALWAYS keep moving forward

Grades are based on:

  • 60% assessments
  • (tests, quizzes, projects, etc.)

  • 40% assignments
  • (class work and homework)
    • 2-3 in Jupiter per week
    • Notebook checks 3-4 per semester
    • Not all individual assignments will be graded

All 8th grade science teachers expect students to:

  • Be:
    • Safe
    • Responsible
    • Respectful
  • Have academic honesty
    • completing their own work/ not sharing answers with others
  • Ask for help and attend TSP if they don’t understand something in class
  • Make up work if they are absent (1 week upon return)

  • TRY… and keep trying until they are successful
