Psychology Club Applications

  • Anyone can join! You do not have to be a Psychology major or minor.

  • Applications can be downloaded off of our website (https://sdsupsichi.wixsite.com/sdsupsichi). Please email applications to psych.sdsu@gmail.com, or turn in a completed paper copy of the PDF.

  • There is a one-time membership fee of $20. That can be paid to our Venmo @YuleniD, or paid in cash/check in person. It must be paid at the time that you give us your application or we will not process it. DO NOT MARK PAYMENT AS GOOD OR SERVICE

Psi Chi Requirements for Membership

Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program (or psychology related); pre-major status does not qualify
  • Have completed at least 3 semesters
  • Have completed at least 9 units (or equivalent) of UPPER DIVISION psychology courses at SDSU; transfer students are not eligible in their first semester at SDSU
  • Have earned an overall GPA of minimum 3.0 on a 4-point scale
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in psychology courses
  • SPRING APPLICATION DUE: MARCH 22, 2024

How to Apply to Psi Chi

What to submit?

  • Filled out PDF application downloaded from our website
  • Copy of full Degree Evaluation (DARS) - unofficial transcripts are not accepted
  • Fill out the online Psi Chi International application (link is on our website)
  • Venmo $80 non refundable* application fee/dues to @YuleniD

How to submit?

  • Email/Printed - PDF application and DARS
  • Venmo/Cash - $80 application fee

You will receive a confirmation email once we receive everything above. We do not process or send out acceptance emails until after the deadline has passed

*Since our application fee is non refundable, we highly encourage applicants to meet with a Psi Chi officer before submitting their application.

  • Keep track of and log member points on a weekly basis

  • Create google sign in forms weekly for the general body meetings

  • In charge of seeking academic for Psi Chi and Psychology Club
  • Schedule academic speakers and communicate information to them
  • Minimum of 2 hour commitment during the school week (office meeting, general meeting, office hour)
  • Help organize events along with the Psi Chi and Psychology Club Presidents
  • Help apply for Psi Chi awards if the group chooses to apply for any

PSI CHI/PSYCHOLOGY CLUB CSSC REPRESENTATIVES (2 POSITIONS)

  • Attend College of Sciences Student Council Meetings on Wednesday from 1:00pm-1:50pm
    • Must attend respective meeting times to remain active in the Council
  • Deliver financial presentations for reimbursements as needed for the organization
  • Act as the liaison between members and the council
  • *For Psi chi rep, you must be initiated in Psi Chi

SECRETARY

  • In charge of all things communication!
  • Send out weekly newsletters to members including information about that week’s meeting and any other important updates
  • Add new members to the newsletter audience using their emails
  • Make a post on instagram two days before the meeting and post the same post on the instagram story the morning of the meeting
  • Send a message in the GroupMe the day before the meeting
  • Take photos at meetings
  • Post recaps with photos from meetings
  • Create and post flyers for fundraising activities
  • Make a post for outside of meeting time activities (for members who can’t make it to weekly meetings)
  • Update Website weekly including pictures, forms, application dates, etc.
  • Update meeting minutes on website after each meeting (usually night of or next day)
  • Collaborate and communicate with the other officers
  • Additional tasks when asked to (e.g. run the instagram numbers
  • Minimum 2 hour commitment during the school week (officer meeting, general meeting, office hours)

TREASURER

  • Complete RSO and SDSU Banking training
  • Use spreadsheets (or other preferred method) to track Venmo and cash deposits (Application fees, Graduation cords, etc) and do so in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all Venmo or cash payments are deposited into club bank account and track that using spreadsheets
  • Reimburse other exec members for club-related purchases (and track that too!!)
  • Oversee bank account and all fundsβ€”ensure everything is running smoothly and funds are sufficient
  • Schedule fundraisers with SDSU/local businesses and ensure those funds are received afterwards
  • Assist in budgeting and financial planning for big events (Psi Chi Initiation, etc)
