The Lord is both powerful and merciful
The Lord is both powerful and merciful
SCRIPTURE
2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
- Nahum 1:2-3, 6-7
The Lord is both powerful and merciful
D. Todd Christofferson
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Perhaps as much as praying for mercy, we should pray for time and opportunity to work and strive and overcome. Surely the Lord smiles upon one who desires to come to judgment worthily, who resolutely labors day by day to replace weakness with strength.
…It is this deep distress, this view of things as they really are, that leads one, as Alma, to cry out, “O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death”. With faith in the merciful Redeemer and His power, potential despair turns to hope.
- Elder D. Todd Christofferson, “The Divine Gift of Repentance,”General Conference, October 2011
The Miracle(by Shawna Edwards)
MUSIC
For God so loved the world
That He gave His only Begotten Son
That whosoever believeth in him shall not perish
But have everlasting life
Jesus walked upon the water
He stilled the storm and calmed the angry sea
With His hands He healed the leper
He made the lame to walk, the blind to see
He fed a thousand people with a loaf or two of bread
And when the ruler's daughter died
He raised her from the dead
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this
Of all His miracles, the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
Jesus bled and died to save me
A price that I could never pay alone
When He rose again, He gave me
The greatest gift the world has ever known
Yes, I can be forgiven every time that I repent
And someday He will lift me up to live with Him again
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this:
Of all His miracles the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
The miracle that rescues you and me

We can trust the Lord’s will and His timing
SCRIPTURE
1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
- Habakkuk 2:1-4
We can trust the Lord’s will and His timing
Dallin H. Oaks
Of the First Presidency
[F]aith in the Lord Jesus Christ is a conviction and trust that God knows us and loves us and will hear our prayers and answer them with what is best for us. In fact, God will do more than what is best for us. He will do what is best for us and for all of our Heavenly Father’s children…
When we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we must…trust him enough that we are content to accept his will, knowing that he knows what is best for us…the Savior reminds us that faith, no matter how strong it is, cannot produce a result contrary to the will of him whose power it is. The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. That is why we cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord’s will and in the Lord’s timing. When we have that kind of faith and trust in the Lord, we have true security in our lives.
- President Dallin H. Oaks, “‘Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ’,”General Conference, April 1994
Faith(Children’s Songbook #96)
MUSIC
1. Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed: If planted, it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart. When I do right, I know.
2. Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on earth.
Faith is trust in God above; In Christ, who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened; I feel it grow Whenever I obey

I can help fill the earth with knowledge of Jesus Christ
I can help fill the earth with knowledge of Jesus Christ
SCRIPTURE
13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
- Habakkuk 2:13-14
I can help fill the earth with knowledge of Jesus Christ
David B. Haight
Former Member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
In 1842 the Prophet Joseph Smith, in answer to an inquiry from the editor of a Chicago newspaper, made the prophetic declaration that “the truth of God will go forth boldly,…till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”…
It is incumbent upon the members of the Church who have had the gift of religious freedom to share this knowledge and testimony with the peoples of the world… I testify that the name of Jesus Christ is the only name under heaven whereby men may be saved and that all men, everywhere, must be brought to a knowledge of this truth if they are to receive the great, eternal exaltation provided by a gracious and loving Father.
- Elder David B. Haight, “Filling the Whole Earth,”General Conference, April 1990
I Will Be What I Believe(Music for Children)
MUSIC
1. Living in this world
with change all around
But with the prophets' words,
I'll stand on solid ground
Even though it's still hard,
with questions that arise
Every day, I will say
2. We'll spread the gospel wide
throughout all the earth
With Jesus as our guide
we'll wield the sword of truth
Even though it's still hard,
with questions that arise
Every day, I will say
We are as the army of Helaman
We have been taught in our youth
And we will be the Lord's missionaries to
bring the world his truth

Chorus:
I'll have faith like brother Joseph
and the strength of the pioneers
I'll be brave as a stripling warrior
and like Nephi persevere
I will spread God's love to all I know and serve
I will plead with my Father on my knees
I will be what I believe
I can help fill the earth with knowledge of Jesus Christ
I can have joy in Jesus Christ, even when things aren’t going well
I can have joy in Jesus Christ, even when things aren’t going well
SCRIPTURE
6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.
17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
- Habakkuk 3:6, 17-19
I can have joy in Jesus Christ, even when things aren’t going well
Richard G. Scott
Former Member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
This life is an experience in profound trust—trust in Jesus Christ, trust in His teachings, trust in our capacity as led by the Holy Spirit to obey those teachings for happiness now and for a purposeful, supremely happy eternal existence… True enduring happiness with the accompanying strength, courage, and capacity to overcome the most challenging difficulties comes from a life centered in Jesus Christ. Obedience to His teachings provides a sure foundation upon which to build… [T]here is absolute assurance that, in the Lord’s time, solutions will come, peace will prevail, and emptiness will be filled…
Please learn that as you wrestle with a challenge and feel sadness because of it, you can simultaneously have peace and rejoicing. Yes, pain, disappointment, frustration, and anguish can be temporary scenes played out on the stage of life. Behind them there can be a background of peace and the positive assurance that a loving Father will keep His promises.
- Elder Richard G. Scott, “Trust in the Lord,” General Conference, October 1995

2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you.

- Zephaniah 2:1-3
“Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth.”
Craig C. Christensen
Of the Seventy
One of the most compelling invitations and profound promises given by the Savior is found in the simple phrase “seek, and ye shall find.”… As we engage our faith and commit our energy to draw closer to Jesus Christ, we begin to understand more fully who He really is. As we seek Him diligently, we gain a deep and abiding testimony of His matchless love, His perfect life and example, and the blessings of His great atoning sacrifice...
As we seek Him, we recognize that He has restored His Church to the earth… that within His Church, He has bestowed the power and authority to provide essential ordinances that will permit us to return and live with Him once again… As we seek Him diligently, we feel His love for us and understand more clearly the answers to our prayers… As we seek Him, we find that He is “the light and the life of the world.” As we seek Him, brothers and sisters, we shall indeed find Him and experience the inner peace He has promised us.
- Elder Craig C. Christensen, “Seek, and Ye Shall Find,” General Conference, April 2003

The Lord will rejoice with His people in Zion
The Lord will rejoice with His people in Zion
SCRIPTURE
14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
15 The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.
17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
- Zephaniah 3:14-17
The Lord will rejoice with His people in Zion
Russell M. Nelson
President of the Church
2018 - Present
As we invest time in learning about the Savior and His atoning sacrifice, we are drawn to participate in [a] key element to accessing His power: we choose to have faith in Him and follow Him… Our covenants bind us to Him and give us godly power. As faithful disciples, we repent and follow Him into the waters of baptism. We walk along the covenant path to receive other essential ordinances…The gospel of Jesus Christ is filled with His power, which is available to every earnestly seeking daughter or son of God. It is my testimony that when we draw His power into our lives, both He and we will rejoice.
