Tags - Using Them Effectively

Tags are useful for both bloggers and their readers as they enable posts to be viewed and searched within the blog. When tags are created they appear in the tags widget in the sidebar of the blog. Click on a tag and this creates a unique URL that displays all the blog posts with that tag.

  • inform learning conversations with students, whānau and your peers
  • a link to evidence of learning for assessment and reporting

Each blog comes with curriculum tags already established. We recommend including tags from key competencies, special character labels specific to your school, kura and learners.

Tags enable both you and your readers to locate relevant blog posts quickly and share or use them to:

When your learners are actively sharing on their own blogs, use their posts to keep your class blog refreshed ... even if it is only one post a week!

Copy and paste posts from your learners’ blogs to your class blog. This is a quick way to keep your class blog updated regularly whilst highlighting your learners' blogs and their posts.

Decide on how much time you have each week to do this e.g. 15 minutes. In this time you may begin by scheduling one or two posts for example. However as you become more confident this number will increase.

Schedule Posts from your learners’ blogs on your Class Blog

Before the end of each school term schedule posts to your class blog for every other day or at least a couple each week. Scheduled posts will publish automatically to your class blog. Consider including the link to the learner's blog in the post too.
