The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

5 of 23

  • Books haven't always been an important part of my life, but one story has left a special mark on me. My favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It is a powerful and emotional novel that takes place during World War II in Germany. The story is narrated by Death, which gives it a unique perspective and makes it even more intriguing.
  • The book follows a young girl named Liesel Meminger, who is sent to live with a foster family in a small town. Despite the hardships of war, she discovers the beauty of words and books. She begins stealing books and learning to read, finding comfort in the stories they hold. Along the way, she forms deep bonds with her foster parents, her best friend Rudy, and a Jewish man named Max, whom her family hides in their basement.
  • Liesel’s journey is full of challenges, moments of joy, and heartbreaking losses. As the war intensifies, her world changes in ways she never expected. One day, something happens that changes her life forever.
  • I love this book because it is beautifully written and full of deep emotions. The characters feel real, and their struggles make me think about the importance of kindness and bravery. It teaches valuable lessons about love, friendship, and the power of words. The story is sad but also inspiring, showing how even in the darkest times, people can find hope. Every time I read it, I discover something new. That is why The Book Thief will always be my favorite book.

The Secret History by Donna Tartt

11 of 23

  • In "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt, readers are drawn into a captivating tale of intrigue, betrayal, and the darkness that can lurk beneath the surface of privilege. The novel follows Richard Papen, a young man from a modest background, who finds himself among an exclusive group of students at a prestigious Vermont college. Under the enigmatic guidance of their charismatic professor, the group delves deep into the study of ancient Greek culture, creating a world rich with intellectual curiosity and dangerous secrecy.
  • Tartt's prose is both elegant and haunting, perfectly capturing the chilling transformation of ordinary students into accomplices in a profound crime. The characters are complex, deeply flawed yet compelling, each holding secrets that unravel like threads throughout the narrative. What makes this book particularly intriguing is how Tartt weaves psychological suspense with classical themes, drawing readers into a narrative that questions morality and the extremes of human behavior. The unfolding mystery keeps you on edge, and the beautifully crafted settings enhance the feeling of an all-encompassing world. Overall, "The Secret History" is a gripping and thought-provoking read that will linger in your mind long after the final page.

The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen

17 of 23

  • This is a thriller that takes place in Boston, where brutal murders happen. The unknown criminal was called the "Surgeon" because he kills women using his medical knowledge. Detectives Jane Rizzoli and Thomas Moore take up the investigation. They try to stop the maniac, but he is very cunning and cautious. The murders of the "Surgeon" are reminiscent of the case of serial killer Andrew Capru, who was stopped by his victim, doctor Catherine Cordell. Detectives realise that the past and the present are connected in a terrible way. Catherine is in danger again because the maniac is chasing her. The tension increases with each page, and the investigation takes unexpected turns. The book keeps you in suspense until the very end.

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

19 of 23

  • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, first published in 1883, follows Jim Hawkins, a young boy who discovers a treasure map in the chest of a deceased pirate. Jim joins a crew to search for the treasure, but he soon learns that the cook, Long John Silver, is a pirate planning to steal the treasure. The novel’s adventure, suspense, and moral dilemmas continue to captivate readers. Messi by Guillaume Balague

21 of 23

  • Today I would like to talk about the book "Messi" by Guillaume Balague. I read this book two years ago. It is available for free in our local library. The author wrote this book in 2014, he travelled around the world and collected material for the book. He also wrote a book about Ronaldo in this format, which I also read.
  • The book about Messi begins with a story about his childhood. From a young age, he was distinguished by his desire to play football. But he was diagnosed with a disease that could stunt his growth. He was helped by scouts from Barcelona, who noticed him and were ready to take him to Barcelona and pay for his treatment. When Lionel moved to Barcelona, he began to progress very strongly and at the age of 17 he was already playing for the main. Over time, he became a key player of the team and impressed with his statistics
  • I liked this book because it has little water and it is interesting to read.
