Appearance and classification

Did you know that you can teach budgies how to talk.Well with a lot of practice they actually can. Budgies can weigh up to 30-40 grams and are about 18 centimeters long. Their wingspan is 30 centimeters long, that is as long as a ruler. Budgies in the wild can be lots of different colours like violet, grey, yellow, blue, grey and green, white, yellow and blue. Most pet shops only sell yellow , blue and green. Their skin is covered in lots of feathers which helps to keep them warm. They have a cere which is their nose it helps to know if its a female or a male. The budgie is a bird` which lays eggs.

Habitat

Budgies can live really anywhere in the world. Budgies that live in the wild, are smaller than the ones kept as pets. Their natural habitat is Australia. In Australia they are usually found in places like woodlands and grasslands. Budgies like warm climates. Budgies make their home in holes that are in trees fence posts and any sort of logs lying on the ground.

Enemies

Budgies enemies are, cats, dogs, snakes and more. They defend themselves by flying away and sometimes they will hide. Some humans might also kill them ,so we could be one of their many enemies.

Favorite food what does it eat.

Wild budgies eat, grass seed ,sometimes ripening wheat and seeds. If they are a pet they will eat food that has a enough nutrients for them. Some food that you buy from a shop, has not got the nutrients they need. They can also eat carrot, apple, and leafy greens. They are a herbivore, which means they only eat veggies and fruit. They can’t eat chocolate , cabbage, plums, onion, lettuce, and citrus fruit otherwise they will get sick and might die.

Facts

You can tell the difference between a female and a male by looking at its cere, which is its nose. If it is light blue or dark blue it is a boy. If it’s pale brown and white when not breeding or brown when it is breeding then it’s a girl.

Tame budgies will sit on your hand and are good around people.

Conclusion

In conclusion budgies are not that hard to look after. They don’t cost to much ether. They are good as pets and it can be fun to teach them how to talk, if you are lucky they might become your best friend.
