CELEBRATING A SHINING LIGHT

National AIDS Memorial Lifetime of Commitment Award

Throughout his life, Cleve Jones has helped Shine a Light on so many issues and causes, always standing up without hesitation, using his voice and Harvey’s bullhorn for LGBTQ+ rights, the labor movement, and for those whose voices are often overshadowed and not heard.

This year, as we mark 35 years since the first stitches of the AIDS Memorial Quilt were sewn together and 50 years since his coming out, Cleve remains an inspirational force for change and action. The National AIDS Memorial is proud to Shine a Light on his story, passion, legacy, and the impact he has had - and continues to have - on millions of people in San Francisco, our nation, and around the world.
