That percentage is predicted to increase to 42.5 percent by 2022.

Working from home isn’t a new concept. Everything from seamstresses to doctors have had businesses in their homes. Remote workers is the new name for working from home and it isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

RELATIONSHIPS

04

13 of 16

IT’S EASIER TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE WHEN YOU SEE THEM FACE TO FACE.

IT’S HARDER ONLINE, BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

In-person:

    • Go to lunch with a coworker
    • Office competitions
    • Chit-chat over morning coffee

How can this be accomplished online?

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUR TEAM MEMBERS SHOULD BE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THEY WORK YOU DO TOGETHER. HERE ARE JUST A FEW IDEAS TO GET YOU STARTED.

Set up an informal channel

Establish a place team members can communicate informally, like a private Facebook group or Whatsapp.

Office competitions

Annual meet ups

This could be something as simple as, who had the best holiday decorations or the coolest coffee mug.

If it’s possible, plan to meet in person once a year. If not, then set up virtual conferences so everyone has a way to feel connected.
