Before we start building the site I want you to have all the files we’ll be adding to your portfolio in a folder with the share settings set at “Anyone on the internet can view.” So…

  1. Create a folder titled “Portfolio”
  2. Right click on the folder and click on “share.”
  3. Click on “Get Shareable Link.”
  4. In the drop down menu choose “more” and then “Public on the web.”

  1. Go to your Google Drive, open your Portfolio folder.
  2. Then go to the blue “NEW” button and choose “Google Sites.”
  3. Click on “Site document name” and name it “Last Name ELA Portfolio.”
  4. Click on “Change image” and choose an image for your homepage.
  5. Click on “Your page title” and give it a creative name.

6. Click on “Insert”

  • click “map”
  • select your “Settings, Locations, Etc.” My Google Map
  • click “select”

7. Drag the corner to adjust your map to a large size.

8. Add a textbox (with header font) and write, “This site contains all the work that I have produced in my 7th grade English Language Arts class. You can navigate to my different works through the links at the top of the page. The map above has the titles, locations and photos of all the texts read in this class. Enjoy!”

11. Go to your Quote of the Day Page.

12. Click on “Header type” and then click “Title only.”

13. Click on “Insert”, “From Drive” and click on your Quote of the Day Slide.

14. Resize your narrative to take up the majority of your page.

15. Click “Pages” and “Six Word Memoir.”

16. Click “Insert”, “From Drive”, select your Six Word Memoir and click “Insert.”

17. Resize it so a full page can be seen.

18. Click “Pages” and “Nature Poem.”

19. Click “Insert”, “From Drive”, select your your original poem and click “Insert.”

20. Resize it so a full page can be seen.

21. Repeat this process with your Thrill of the Chase Presentation.

22. Click on “Pages” and “Author Bio.”

23. Click on “Insert”, “Images” and insert a photo of yourself through the web, drive, etc.

24. Click on “Insert”, “Text box” and write a short bio about yourself.

25. Click “Publish”, put your last name on the the end of the url, mark “anyone on the web”, and click “View” (on the bottom of your page).

26. Copy and paste the url on the Google Form in Classroom.
