Creating a Behavior Intervention Plan

The menu tabs on the left of the MTSS Plan screen takes us through Part I of process in order.

Setting up a complete behavior intervention plan begins with the MTSS Plan tab through the Area of Concern tab in this section. Part II continues by creating a progress monitoring plan in the CICO area.

The SIT Facilitator goes through the following steps prior to the SIT Meeting

Type a plan name: SIT Tier II Behavior or Tier III Behavior

Select either Tier II or Tier III Plan Type

“Created by” will default to the person entering information. Change if needed.

Enter the name of the person responsible for the academic intervention.

Enter the date intervention will start. It can be backdated if needed. The End Date will enter based on plan length, or can be custom entered.

Add Students: If multiple students have the same function of behavior and will be in an intervention together, they may be added here as a group.

Recommended Plan Length for behavior intervention is 8 weeks.

Don’t forget to click save!

  • The Request for Assistance information that teachers submitted in TeacherVue will be found in the Student Profile. Click here and look under the MTSS tab.
  • Attendance and available vision and hearing screening will be found here as well.

If the student has had an intervention plan entered in another school in PPS, the plan will be listed here.

Use the first two tabs to record meeting participants for the upcoming meeting.

In Meeting Details, select the meeting date and appropriate meeting type.

During the SIT meeting, the SIT notetaker captures the team’s thinking in the fillable boxes as you scroll down

The SIT Note Taker completes the student’s plan by completing the next tab (Area of Concern) either during the SIT meeting or immediately after

Choose the area of Concern and the Person Responsible using the drop down arrows.

Choose a Learning Gap. Use the drop down arrow and click on one Possible Function of Behavior

Use the dropdown arrow next to Intervention and select the intervention that aligns to the possible function of behavior (cont next slide)

Complete the details. For example, CICO could be 2 minute sessions with 10 session per week (2 minutes for check-in & 2 minutes for check-out each day)

Using the dropdown for Sync with Analytics Data Source choose Plans-CICO Daily Average

Enter the student’s behavior goal.

The process of identifying the intervention and setting up our record-keeping process is complete.

Now we need to set up the progress monitoring system.

This is in the CICO section of the MTSS Module.

NOTE: This progress monitors ALL behavior interventions that require multiple data points per day (not just Check-In Check-Out)

Click on Enrollment then Enroll

Search for the student by:

  • Adding Student ID or name in search bar
  • Or scroll down until you find the student

1. 80% is always the goal

3. All Tier II behavior goals are tied to all schoolwide values. Your schoolwide values will auto populate here.

2. Choose the intervention/s agreed upon during the SIT meeting.

5. End Date will always end 8 weeks after start date.

This can be extended in the future if needed.

4. Date will auto-populate to entry date. You can backdate if needed.

If the intervention intervals are aligned with the school’s bell schedule, then you are done! If the intervals are not aligned with the bell schedule, take the following steps:

1. Click Schedule

2. Delete what is already below the grey section by clicking the trash can.

3. Write the intervals one by one (times or subjects) in the Add Custom Entry field.

The Permissions field is where you can grant access to people who should have progress monitoring access. This defaults to the classroom teacher (K-5) and the period teacher (6-12).

You have now completed setting up a behavior intervention by completing the first six tabs in MTSS Plan and setting up Progress Monitoring in CICO.
