Bonus Tolerance
In GD&T, bonus tolerance is a modification of a GD&T tolerance that under certain conditions increases the tolerance, hence the term “bonus”.
More specifically, when the maximum material condition (MMC) (or) Least material condition (LMC) symbol is used to modify a GD&T tolerance, bonus tolerance becomes available
VIRTUAL CONDITION (OR) MAXIMUM ENVELOP GEOMETRY
= MMC(LARGEST SIZE) + GEO. TOL.
= 10.10 + 0.050
= 10.15 mm
BONUS TOLERANCE (When MMC applied, difference between MMC and actual size)
=10.10 – 9.90
=0.20 mm
TOTAL ALLOWABLE PART STRAIGHT
=STRAIGHTNESS GEO.TOL + BONUS TOL. = 0.050 + 0.20 =0.250 mm

= 10.10 + 0.050
= 10.15 mm
BONUS TOLERANCE (When MMC applied, difference between MMC and actual size)

=STRAIGHTNESS GEO.TOL + BONUS TOL. = 0.050 + 0.20 =0.250 mm

BONUS TOLERANCE (When MMC applied, difference between MMC and actual size)
