Summary of Cell Phone Status

  1. Cell Phone Policy was adopted in the summer of 2022 which stated that students would not be able to possess their cell phones on campus. (See page 2 of the slide show for the old policy)

  • The Cell Phone Policy was amended and placed into effect on August 22nd, 2022, which states that students can have their cell phones on campus. (See page 3 of the slide show for the amended policy)

  • The newly adopted Cell Phone Policy requires all students and parent/guardians to complete the Cell Phone Agreement Form. A hyperlink to this form is located on page 4 of this slideshow, and directly below, as well.

Proposed (OLD) Cell Phone Policy on August 15th, 2022:

Cell Phones:

Students are not allowed to bring cellphones, smartwatches or other devices with the ability to call, access apps or text to school, with the exception of students that will be traveling for extracurricular, co-curricular, field trips, or athletic purposes. Students that will be traveling for the approved reasons will be allowed to bring their cell phone to the office prior to classes starting to place their phone in the coach/sponsor’s travel tub. Coaches/sponsors will distribute phones and monitor cell phones at their discretion based on the staff handbook recommendations for activity trip supervision. Cell phones will not be allowed to be used on the bus without coach/sponsor permission or in locker rooms while traveling. Students with medical conditions that require monitoring will have the ability to use these devices with restrictions. Teachers may request cell phone usage for certain class activities.

Current Cell Phone Policy on August 22nd, 2022:

Cell Phones:

Students are not allowed to use or access cell phones, smartwatches, or other devices with the ability to call, access apps, or text to school, on BSC campus during the school day (7:20 a.m. - Final class bell of the day) except as provided in the BSC Cell Phone/Electronic Device Agreement. Students with medical conditions that require monitoring will have the ability to use or access these devices with restrictions as written into their individual agreement.
