Overview of Upcoming Transition Activities

January 28-February 3

Students will make elective requests with guidance from the middle school counselors. This is done in PowerSchool.

Starting the February 4th

High school counselors will visit middle schools during the school day to review elective requests with each student.

February 21

If needed, parents/guardians may submit course level change requests to the appropriate high school divisional by this date. The form is located online at http://www.d300.org/freshmen.

August 1

Finalized schedules will be available for viewing PowerSchool.

Core Course Recommendations

Elective Course Request Process

English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies course recommendations are based on:

  • Current courses and grades
  • Classroom performance indicators, including student effort and motivation.
  • Standardized test results.

Current D300 students are required to complete course requests online using PowerSchool.

  • Students will review options of available elective courses.
  • Students and parents will discuss the options.
  • Students will select elective courses with support from the school counselor

Students needing accommodations should speak directly with their case manager or school counselor.

Blended Learning Overview

Freshman Blended

Courses Offered at D-CHS

Students will learn in a traditional classroom setting three days a week and use Schoology for online learning two days a week.

  • Honors Geometry
  • Honors Biology
  • Biology

Students will be in class the first three weeks of school to learn processes and procedures for blended learning.

The online learning days are called “blended days.”

  • Freshmen will not be allowed to leave the building.
  • Freshmen will be in the Library Media Center on blended days.
  • If a student’s grade drops below a 70% (C), they are required to attend their blended class with the teacher every day.

Students may go to their class to work directly with the teacher during blended days.

  • D300’s Pathway Programs offer students ten unique pathways to college and career success.
  • New to District 300 is our Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) College & Career Pathway Endorsement (CCPE) programs which are indicated with a “*” in the table to the right.
  • Completion of a pathway or CCPE will provide students with real world knowledge, experience, and skills to thrive in college classrooms, and to compete for 21st century careers.

Summer School for Incoming Freshmen

Summer School Offerings

  • Incoming freshmen may request the following 300-level summer school courses:
    • History Now
    • Sports & Resistance in American History
  • Please review the High School Course Selection Guide to review course contents and course level weights.
  • As a reminder, students request summer classes and actual scheduling is based on staffing and minimum student requests.

Health Requirements for Incoming Freshmen

Students will not be able to start on the first day without a completed physical exam.

  • Students must have a complete physical completed between August 1, 2024 and August 1, 2025– physicals must be submitted by August 1, 2025.
    • Illinois Department of Public Health form
    • Parent’s section must be completed
  • Students must be up-to-date with all immunization requirements.
  • Sports physical does not meet this requirement but the complete physical can be used for sports.
  • All incoming freshmen must submit proof of Dental Examination prior to May 15, 2026.

  • Participation in extracurricular activities makes for a fun high school experience, enhances resumes, and looks good on college applications!
  • Summer Camps are a great way to get to know peers!
  • Being involved is an excellent way to make friends and have a connection to the Dundee-Crown Charger Community!
  • The fall sports season begins on August 12!
    • Cheer, Dance, Boys & Girls Cross Country, Boys & Girls Golf, Football, Boys Soccer, Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming, and Girls Volleyball.
