The India Doc

Why?

  • Not many people bother learning india because of the terrible camera quality and there isn’t that much research/resources for it, ive played india quite a bit recently and here is everything useful for learning india. Credit to Duskden2 on YouTube (He has a yt series about india too, check him out), Matepotato and JHK (unblock me pls) for a lot of these metas. Also to Anna for the map making site. Its important to note that it only covers the coverage of india released in 2022, not enough research on the newer coverage as of now.

Extent of coverage

4 of 30

Gujarat

5 of 30

Gujarat is one of the easiest states to recognize because of the holey poles, which are more or less specific to Gujarat, but can be found in Maharashtra rarely. Gujarat coverage is quite green and road is often reddish/brown. Mountains are often found in south of the state and its dryer toward north and in the peninsula.A very important clue is language, Gujrati looks like hindi, but without the line at the top.

6 of 30

Rajasthan

7 of 30

Rajasthan is one of the harder states to recognize imo. Rj often has stone walls on the side of the road, like in udaipur. Coverage is limited to only a few areas. Rajasthan looks quite green in the coverage of Udaipur and parts of Jaipur and Ajmer. Jodhpur often looks savanna-like. Many parts are hilly or have hills in the distance which is not very common for other hindi speaking states like UP and Haryana.

8 of 30

Punjab

9 of 30

Punjab has a lot of coverage, but is one of the more gettable states. The most important metas for Punjab is the square type thing on the pole which is almost always Punjab, very rarely Haryana. Its not on all poles. Coverage in Punjab is very overcast, roads are often thin, and overexposed camera. Punjab is VERY flat. Punjabi might be hard to tell apart from hindi, it sometimes doesn’t have the line on top for some letters. The coverage can look similar to parts of UP. Architecture can be useful, im just not sure how to explain it. Also there is a good chance youre in pj if you see someone wearing a turban.

10 of 30

Haryana (my home state)

11 of 30

Coverage in Haryana is limited to the south east part of the country. In my opinion it is the hardest state to recognize and ive lost many streaks to UP Haryana tossups. The soil is often light coloured in Haryana and the sky is very clear. Not many clouds are visible. Haryana often has a brown dot in the camera, idt that’s a meta but ill just put it here. There isn’t any real clue and on the toss ups with UP I usually just go UP because of more cov there.

Haryana is also flat and agricultural and uses hindi.

12 of 30

Uttar Pradesh

13 of 30

UP has a lot of coverage near the main cities, especially in the delhi region. It also flat and agricultural like Haryana and Punjab. Just look out for the Punjab clues and if it cant be Punjab then go UP. Not many metas for Haryana and UP its mostly just vibes for northern plains. UP also uses hindi. Im trying to work out a pole meta but might take some time.

14 of 30

Uttarakhand

15 of 30

Uttarakhand is a very mountainous state, and in two thirds of the coverage you are in a mountainous region or can see mountains in the distance. Compared to other mountainous areas, Uttarakhand feels cooler and less tropical. If you think youre in Uttarakhand and are in a flat section of the state and see no mountains/mountains are far away, consider Roorkee or parts of Dehradun and maybe Rudrapur. It is the last state in this doc which uses hindi. Basically, if youre in an even slightly mountainous region and using hindi, you can only be in this state or Rajashtan, although they do look different.

16 of 30

Maharashtra

17 of 30

Maharashtra has coverage in and around many cities. Mumbai is recognizable because of the black and yellow autos and the high buildings. Coverage in most parts of Maharashtra looks kinda ‘brownish’ which usually tells youre In this state although can be confused with parts of Hyderabad and bangalore. Its often mountainous, especially in the western region along the western ghats (outside Mumbai nashik area) Nagpur area is green and can be confused with other states. Language used is Marathi which is very similar to hindi, just look out for Marathi specific letters like the last letter of the second last word in the pic below (white text sentence). That letter is the most useful although there are other specific letters.

18 of 30

Goa

19 of 30

Goa us a small state and has basically full coverage. It is very tropical, hilly/mountainous and has reddish soil. Its architecture is also distinct as the state is Portuguese influenced. Almost always hilly and tropical. Very popular tourist destination, kinda like Vegas for Americans. Oh and they use Konkani which is basically hindi.

20 of 30

Karnataka

21 of 30

Karnataka has new coverage added recently but this wont include it as not much research has been put into it yet. Bengaluru can be hard to get at times and can look like any other city. It often has very red soil, although it also often has light coloured soil so…yeah. It often has tropical vegetation. The most important metas are yellow tanks (usually only tamil nadu/Chennai and Bengaluru, can be found in maha and goa rarely), and language, kannada, which looks like Sinhalese (sri lankan). It can be mistaken for telugu, but kannada often has hook type things at the end of letters. Also If you see a green circular pole or a pole with blue strip, it should be Bengaluru.

22 of 30

Tamil Nadu

23 of 30

Tamil Nadu also has new coverage but rn its only for Husur and Chennai. Chennai also often uses yellow tanks like Bengaluru. The language is Tamil which is recognizable, it has more straight lines and often has dots on the letters which is not true for other southern languages.

24 of 30

Telangana

25 of 30

Telangana also received new cov. Telangana along with Andhra Pradesh often uses sectioned poles, like the brazillian ones. Both these states use Telugu which is recognizable. Telangana looks much dryer than Andhra, atleast the Hyderabad region, which is the main way to tell the two apart. Some of the coverage near their borders can look similar. Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad often look similar and are hard to tell apart, just comes with playing more.

26 of 30

Andhra Pradesh

27 of 30

Andhra Pradesh basically has full coverage. It also uses sectioned poles and telugu script like Telangana, but it is much greener, more tropical, have redder soil and be mountainous in some areas. It comes up a lot, especially the north. It is quite distinctive. Dryer in the south and in interior parts. If in a mountainous green area, hedge north of Vishakhapatnam.

28 of 30

Misc

  • Odisha script is circle-y
  • Autos in Gujarat are often green and black (no yellow)
  • Autos are not extremely reliable and there are exceptions
  • Delhi often has yellow and black painte trees and poles idt excl tho
