Cambridge Component Retakes

• Component retakes in June and November 2026

• Initially in 12 of our most popular Cambridge IGCSE subjects

• 9-1 graded IGCSE subjects only

• Available to schools in Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

What next?

We are continuing to explore how we respond to what our customers are telling us. We are working on what we do next which could be expanding the component retake or something else which may better respond to needs our customers have going forward.

Cambridge will share further updates by September 2025.

Academic misconduct policy

What does Academic Integrity look like at EMS?

Honesty: Students follow their teachers' guidance and expectations for all assessments in line with CAIE exam guidance, only submitting original work and completing individual assessments independently

Trust: Students complete all assignments by the set deadlines according to their teachers' instructions

Respect: Students are consistent and accurate in citing the work of others, using the prescribed referencing method according to the CAIE guidance keeping classwork and academic materials private and not sharing these without their teacher's permission

Fairness: Students follow EMS rules and CAIE guidance by not trying to gain unfair advantage during assessments (eg copying, using mobile devices etc)

Responsibility: Students complete work to their best ability, seeking help from their teachers where needed

Courage: Students are brave and stand up for what is right by alerting their teachers, Admin or any other staff member at EMS if they think someone has committed an academic offence or misconduct

Please visit our school’s Secondary Google Site for more information.

Inclusion at EMS

EMS’s theme this year is ‘acceptance and inclusion’. We are striving to create an inclusive environment that thrives on fostering success.

Through differentiated instruction we are aiming to make curriculum accessible for different learning styles.

We also offer different programs to cater to students interests such as:

  • A range of after school activities
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Peer mentoring

14

Time to Settle In: Students should use the start of Year 10 to adjust and fully commit to the subjects they have chosen.

Subject Choices Matter: Decisions made now directly influence future A Level/AS options and ultimately university admissions.

Changing Subjects: changes should only be considered if they align with university requirements and long-term career goals.

The deadline for subject change - 30th September 2025

University Exposure: Attend university fairs early to explore different pathways and ask informed questions.

Planning Ahead: Begin researching universities and understand entry requirements for your intended course.

Standardized Tests: Consider timelines for exams such as IELTS, SAT, ACT, or UCAT. Even if you don’t test yet, it’s smart to start planning now.
