Health Guidelines

HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS

  • DO bring plenty of water in a reusable water bottle. Cooling towels are also effective.
  • HYDRATE early and throughout the day.
  • BE AWARE of SYMPTOMS of a heat-related injury: heavy sweating or feeling “chills”, pulse is fast and thready, dizziness, confusion, muscle cramps, nausea, headache.
  • IF you have previously experienced a heat-related injury (heat exhaustion, heat stroke), you are more likely to be affected again. MONITOR how you feel and tell your Coach if you have any symptoms.
  • While some guidelines suggest halting outdoor activities completely under certain conditions, your Coaches will manage crew activity levels to reduce the potential for heat-related injuries.
