Daily Schedule
8
MVE Specials will be on a 4 day rotation this year!
Our rotation is:
S.P.A.M.
Science, P.E., Art, Music
my advice: have your child wear sneakers (or sandals that have a strap in the back) that they can RUN IN every day. (They can still trip and hurt themselves at recess and we do that every day.) Then you don’t have to pay attention to the rotation.

Snacks
Students have a morning snack after recess. Please pack a healthy, nut free, snack for your child to have during this time.
Please only send one small snack in a normal sized snack container or bag. (Not a lunchbox.)

Water Bottles
Please send a water bottle that is spill proof. Nothing with a large opening.
We have lots of spills and things get ruined.

School Sweater
School classrooms can be chilly in the winter. Please consider leaving a ‘school sweater’ or fleece in our classroom this fall and winter so it is always there when needed.
There is nothing better than pulling on a cozy fleece when you are cold!
There is nothing worse than having to do your work while wearing a bulky winter jacket inside, rotating between sweating and freezing.
Lunch
Cold lunch- students will put their lunchboxes in a basket that will be delivered to the cafeteria in the morning.
Hot lunch - The lunch calendar is found on the DCSD Nutrition Site or the Nutrislice app.
Please discuss your allergies with the lunch staff and create a plan for your child if needed.
Students are dismissed based off what you responded on the Google Form - NO EXCEPTIONS!
Be sure to send a written note or call the office as early as possible, no emails!
Please be on time!
Classroom Door: Students will meet you. Please have your pass with you. It can be helpful to take a picture on your phone! Please be on time!
BASE: Students are picked up from class at 3:40 and checked into BASE. For more information look on MVE’s Website.
Bus: Your child will need a SMART Tag attached to their bag. Purchase through DCSD Transportation. Students will be released through the building (front doors) then onto the buses.
Carpool: Students will be called from their classrooms and brought to you in the carpool lane. You don’t need to get out of your car. You will need to display the yellow tag to have your student dismissed to you.

Curriculum
You can find information about all of the curriculum used at MV on the school website and on class website.
Homework
MVE does not believe in HW across the board for every student.
However, do plan to work with your child if they need extra support somewhere. I will send home extra practice in Thursday folders if it will help your child to work with you one on one.
Please reach out to me with questions or
concerns about your child’s
progression through the
year.
Your child will be celebrated on their birthday here at Mnt. View!
No invitations for birthday parties will be distributed at school unless every child is invited. If there are enough invites, they’ll be filed and sent home in blue take-home folders.
We have 23 students in our class, but this could change, so sending in a few extra is always a good plan!
We are not doing food for birthdays as we have life threatening allergies in the room. If you would like to ‘treat’ the class, please plan on something non-edible like friendship bracelets, fun pencils or erasers, or other ‘favor’ type things.
Birthdays
Students will take their folder home every Thursday. Please return in empty on Friday.
Inside there will be completed student work, school papers, and important information from the office and myself.
Reading logs will be sent home monthly starting in September and due on the last day of the month.

Volunteers
*email if you are interested in this.
In Class- helping with small group work, ripping out math pages, assisting with clerical tasks and more. These will be at different times of day depending on needs and subjects.
Room Parent- Looking for 2 leaders to help coordinate classroom parties and volunteers. They will also help in putting together a class directory.
I understand we are all busy and there are no volunteer expectations other than partner with me to help your child get the best out of their first grade year!

PTO
You can find information about all of the curriculum used at MV on the school website.
Birthday treats are welcome!
No invitations for birthday parties will be distributed at school unless every child is invited. If there are enough invites, they’ll be sent home in blue take-home folders.
*Please sign up for the Class Directory if you would like to mail invites or have your child included. I cannot share any family contact information throughout the school year.
We’ll have a simple morning snack during recess. Students just need one snack.
Please pack a healthy snack for your child to have during this time if they are hungry. Please keep in mind that eating snack is their choice.
Snacks need to be in backpacks, not lunch boxes.
Please send a water bottle that is spill proof. Nothing with a straw or twist off cap.
We have lots of spills and things get ruined.
Cold lunch- students will put their lunchboxes in a basket that will be delivered to the cafeteria in the morning.
Hot lunch - The lunch calendar is found on the DCSD Nutrition Site. They need to know their lunch number.
There is a nut-free table in the cafeteria for students with allergies. Nut products are allowed at all other tables.
Shoe tying.
Jacket zipping! Please practice before it snows.
SEND IN AN EXTRA CHANGE OF CLOTHES/SOCKS!!
Your child is responsible for all of his or her belongings. It is helpful to have his or her name written on everything in case something is misplaced.
Think jackets, boots, gloves, hats, lunch box… ☺
Blue Folders- These will come home everyday. They will contain completed student work & important information from the office and myself. Unless there is something that needs a signature, they should be returned empty the next day.If your child was absent I will send home their work, please complete it and send it back in.
-READ!
~20 Minutes/Night
If you read to your child every night, their reading level can increase by two years! We’re ALL busy. PLEASE MAKE THIS A PART OF YOUR NIGHT.
