Students, in conjunction with their parents and the school (teachers, management and Board of Trustees), are responsible for their own learning. Focus on ILT (Independent Learning Time)
Measurement, monitoring and review are important for the performance of students, the school, staff and the Board of Trustees.
Integrated structures such as the House system, Manukura, Senior Student Leaders and the Student Council are important to achieve a sense of belonging and leadership opportunities for all students.

Te Tiriti O Waitangi Principles, as presented in Ka Hikitia, Mātauranga Māori and Tātaiako, will guide the development of programmes to ensure success for Māori students.
A planned curriculum, sports, performing arts programme and pastoral progression from Year 7 to 13 will enhance the whole school ethos and develop student leadership, school culture and pride.
Kōtui Ako, a member of the Online Teaching and Learning Community, will successfully deliver online courses to Auckland Secondary Schools and cater to more diverse learning pathways for students.
Professional growth cycles, attestation and registration processes are aligned with national requirements, are integrated and include student feedback and teacher reflection.
School / post school / business / career links will be maintained and enhanced.

Orewa Community of Learning Kāhui Ako; We work with Ahutoetoe School, Dairy Flat, Orewa Beach School, Orewa Primary, Nukumea Primary, Wainui, and Silverdale schools to achieve Kāhui Ako goals.
