SWG: Role

The Strategic Working Group will serve as a collaborative, non-decision-making advisory body that provides critical input and local context to the redistricting process. Resources and Approaches

It’s not just about seat counts

  • We conduct capacity and utilization analyses to spatially model current enrollment patterns, facility capacities, and specialized program placements along with meeting with school and building leaders. This enables us to incorporate school specific context, identify enrollment pressures, as well as opportunities to improve space efficiency, including potential adjustments to specialized programs.

  • This approach helps ensure that all specialized space needs such as special education, early childhood, and english learner programs are accurately captured to incorporate into our models thus reflecting the full range of educational programming in the district.

Understanding school capacities and the unique space needs of specialized programs?

Resources and Approaches

Developing capital and budgetary needs assessments to support any reorganization and strategic plans?

Financial considerations must be addressed

  • We collaborate with facilities and finance experts throughout the community to develop preliminary cost models aligned to each scenario. We determine capital investment needs, operational cost changes, and transportation impacts associated with different configuration options.
  • This enables the district to evaluate both educational and fiscal implications side by side to assist in better decision making.
