We Made It!

It’s been 5 years since our Flight Plan was designed and executed.

Wow!

2018 was the time to refresh our Mission and Vision, to renew our goals and set new objectives that will take us further as a School and as a Learning Community

36 of 64

Why do it again?

  • When a cycle ends, we have to design a new plan, so we can define our future, and not let circumstances define it
  • New challenges arrive, new questions arise
  • New opportunities are envisioned
  • Change in management and direction

37 of 64

A DREAM

WITHOUT A PLAN

WISH

IS JUST A

38 of 64

Why is it important to have a single plan for all?

So we can all go in the same direction...

United

Stronger

Faster

39 of 64

We built it

As a team, with the participation of all stakeholders

Consciously, thorough analysis,

Practical, made for all:

Welcome

Hello I'm Esteban Cadavid and I’m here to facilitate the launch of your new Strategic Plan.

Today we will share two fun activities that will help us understand our role in the new strategy ...

41 of 64

Before we begin the activities, I will explain the instructions step by step, but what I need most from you is a lot of participation and commitment:

Can I count it??

I can’t hear you, are excited to face the first challenge?

The Clock

43 of 64

The Clock

Our first challenge is to gather and see what is our role in the new strategy ...

And since time is money, we will use a Clock! Which each of you already have in your badge, with a pen that you will be using later on

44 of 64

The Clock

First write your name on top of the line that is above 12 o'clock

My Name

45 of 64

The Clock

Now please pay attention since you will need to find three people to set up “appointments” writing their names down on the other three lines... both people must write the others’ name and write it at the time you’ll meet (3, 6 or 9)

  1. Now move around and find three people from a different section than yours, and someone you don’t know very well, and write their name on your card. Don’t be afraid to choose someone who doesn’t speak your same language, ask for help to one of the facilitators.
  2. That person should also write your name on their card at the same hour.
  3. When you have your three appointments arranged, wait until my call to meet your first one.
  4. With each colleague, you will both answer the same question

Do you have your three appointments?

Are you ready to answer the first question?

The Clock

Now look for your 3 o’clock appointment. Read the first question and share your comments

What makes you unique in the school?

48 of 64

What might be some things that most excite you about the new plan?

Now look for your 6 o’clock appointment. Read the second question and share your comments about it

49 of 64

What should be your role in this plan?

Now look for your 9 o’clock appointment. Read the third question and share your comments

The Clock

You have been fantastic, very good work ... I would like to hear some people tell us about their experience:

Share with us,

What is your role in this strategy?

The Key

2nd Activity - The Key

Once I tell you, you will begin to form teams of 8 people from different sections of the school, and pick one of the tables that are on the sides of the coliseum.

On top of the tables you’ll find some materials to build a paper key, but before we begin, I’ll show you the three stops to follow. So that when we go to the tables, we’ll not only have a general idea of what to do, but we’ll also have a tutorial video, and plenty of people willing to help you build you key.

53 of 64

Please listen to the two other steps before going to the tables, and remember we’ll also have a video tutorial, and people with the “ASK ME” buttons to help.

Step 1:

Cut the paper in half to get two rectangles. Then pick one rectangle and cut in half to get two squares.

Pick one of the squares, and cut diagonally to get two triangles.

You should be left with the four parts you’ll need.

54 of 64

If you have any questions during the process just ask for help to any of the leaders wearing a white shirt.

Step 2:

Fold each of the parts in half, and then fold them again in half.

You should have left a rectangle, a square, and two triangles, all of them should be sturdier and smaller.

55 of 64

Step 3:

Using a little bit of glue, firmly join together each of the four pieces.

Then glue them together to build a key. It is possible that not all keys looks the same, don’t worry about that.

57 of 64

Let’s offer help among us, so that we can all learn together...

Before we continue, let’s check that we all have a key

58 of 64

We already have our key, but now we must give it a special power… so please listen closely…

First think about which door do you want to open? To which of the goals do you want to contribute?

59 of 64

Final Step:

Now reflect on which skill, action or behavior is needed to achieve the goal that you chose… Write that word on your key:

Depositing YOUR Paper Key

Ask for your kit

Finally, please look for the box that has the same color as the goal you chose, and deposit your key in that box as a symbol of what you will be bringing and doing for the strategy. It doesn’t matter if your key color doesn’t match the goal color. Please deposit the key in the goal you think it goes better with.

As a reward you will get a gift that will be very useful

Please return to your seat to watch a closing video

Write your name on it and keep it, since it shows the route we will be following
