Pin a Tab in Chrome

  • Avoid closing a tab accidentally�
  • While working in Chrome, Right-Click on Gmail tab and choose PIN TAB.�
  • This locks and moves that tab to left. Will stay there while you work and when you reopen Chrome*
    • You may have to occasionally re-pin

Restore a Closed Tab in Chrome

  • Open the last closed tab�
  • Mac: �COMMAND+SHIFT+T
  • Win/Chromebook: CONTROL+SHIFT+T
  • You can also open from HISTORY
    • Go to the three dots on the top right and choose HISTORY

  • New button is where you create new files (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawings, Maps, Sites) and one place you can upload files and folders.�

    • All your files - the ones you own and the ones you have added to your drive.�
  • Shared with Me
    • Files that have been shared with you by others�
  • Recent
    • Files you recently accessed�
  • Starred
    • Files you “favourite”�

    • Files you have deleted �(no need to empty - unlImited space in EDU domains)

  • Organized in reverse chronological order�
  • Cannot be organized - to organized click the “Add To Drive” button and organize in your Drive.�

Upload a Folder or File

  • To upload a File or folder, go to New → upload File/Folder

  • Or drag a file/folder into the

Create a Folder

  • Click New

  • Click Folder

  • Name the Folder

  • Click Create�
  • The folder will appear alphabetically in your Drive

  • You can view folders and files as a list or a grid�
  • You can use the buttons or use ‘V’ key to toggle

Right Click Options - Folders

  • When you right click a folder you get options
    • Open with - selects the program
    • Share - allows you to share with others
    • Move to - lets you move the file to another place in your drive
    • Add a star - places it in your Starred folder for quick access
    • Change Colour - turns the folder a different colour
    • Rename - renames the folder
    • View details - tell you information about the folder (activity and details).
    • Download - downloads the folder
    • Remove - deletes the folder

Colour Code Folders in Drive

  • Open your drive�
  • Right click the folder you want to colour�
  • Scroll down to Change Color�
  • Pick your colour

‘Favouriting’ Folders & Files in Google Drive

  • Right click the file or folder�
  • Click Add Star
  • This will add the folder/file to the STARRED list in Google Drive for quick access.�
  • Note: To remove the star copy the same steps and click Remove Star

Move Folders & Files

  • Right click the file or folder�
  • Click Move To...
  • A window will pop up. Choose the folder you want to love the folder/file to and click Move
  • Note: To move deeper into folder, click the > beside the folder name to dig deeper.�
  • Note: You can also drag folders to move them

Share Folders & Files

  • Right click the file or folder�
  • Click Share...
  • .Enter the person’s email address and write a message to them.�
  • Note: The pencil beside the name means they can edit the File you can change this and choose to give View Only privileges in this step.

Preview a File

  • To see a quick preview of a file without having to open it you can right click and select preview or press the ‘P’ key.

Find a File Type

  • If you know the file type you can narrow your search by going to the little triangle at the end of the search bar in Google Drive.�
  • One you click the triangle select the desired file type and it will return only that type of files.�
  • Note: You can also search by owner, location, and other filters

Spacing in Google Drive

  • Your files can be viewed in a more compact way in Google Drive.�
  • Go to the Gear in the left corner.�
  • Select Density�
  • Choose between Comfortable, Cozy & Compact

Live Files/Folders in Multiple Places (Shift+Z)

  • In your Google Drive highlight the file want to copy into another folder.
  • Press Shift and Z (at the same time)
  • A box will appear that will let you navigate to the folder in which you also want the document. Press the arrow button on the right to navigate to the folder.
  • Once you arrive at the folder (do not go into the folder), press the green Add button on the bottom left.
