Taylor High School

Step 1: Letter of Intent/ Counseling Form

Turn in the LETTER OF INTENT and COUNSELING FORM by April 1st of the year before you plan on participating.

This is turned into your high school counselor.

This does not commit you to the program. You can change your mind, but this must be turned in by the deadline in order for you to participate.

Step 2: Plan your Classes

There are several options for taking college classes. The best case scenario is if you find a college and major that you are interested in and review the curriculum guide of required classes.

Many students decide to take general education requirements through CCP to cut down the time and cost of their intended postsecondary path.

If you do not have a clear path or major in mind, many students choose general education courses that are common to many majors. Example would be introductory classes like English, Math, History, etc.

You can use the website www.transferology.com to see what college credits transfer to a specific university.

Step 3: Apply to the CCP Program of your choice

All public and some private colleges and universities offer a College Credit Plus program. You can see information for each program on the college’s website.

Many of our THS students start with Cincinnati State, UC, or Miami.

All classes offered at THS are through Cincinnati State so you must apply to that program to take those courses.

You can apply to multiple colleges and attend multiple colleges.

You must apply to the college’s CCP program on your own and meet all requirements and deadlines. You will need to provide your social security number and state student id (found on the transcript) when applying.

Many schools have information nights and you should plan on attending these if interested in the school.

You will need to submit a permission slip to the college during the application process signed by you and your parent/guardian to acknowledge the fact that some courses contain mature content. This form will be provided by the college.

Step 4: Attend College Orientations and

Check Your Email!

  • After completing all the application requirements, you will receive information on admission directly from the college. They will issue you a college email. After they send this, they will only communicate with you through the college email. This is really important for you to check!

  • You will be required to attend an orientation. Many times this is virtual. You must attend this orientation. You will get connected with your college advisor and learn how to register for courses.

Step 5: Register for courses

  • Through orientation, you will learn how to register for courses.
  • It is your responsibility to register for courses if you are taking a course at the college or online.
  • We suggest registering for courses as early as you can to have the most course options available to you.
  • Pay attention what sections, professors, course start date, and whether this is an online or in person class.
  • Work with your high school counselors and college advisors to plan courses.
  • If you are taking a class offered at THS with a THS teacher, you are NOT required to register. This is done automatically for you by the high school.

Step 6: Gather materials

  • Your registration statement should contain information regarding the books or materials you need.
  • Never pay for books or required materials for the class. This is paid for through the CCP program.
  • If you are taking courses at a private school, there may be a fee for materials.
  • Each school will give you instructions for how to obtain your books. Follow these directions.
  • If you have questions, contact your high school counselor.
  • Again DO NOT BUY ANYTHING

  • Make sure you have access to all course materials and instructions.
  • Follow the guidelines and instructions set by your professor.
  • Meet all assignment deadlines and requirements.
  • Remember, if you fail or withdraw from a course, you will be responsible for the fee for the tuition of the course and the F will go on your college or high school transcript.
  • Underperforming students will have restrictions from failing or withdrawing too often from courses.

Step 9: Submit Grades to the AD for

Sports Eligibility

If you need the CCP grade for eligibility to play high school sports, you must obtain this from your professor and send directly to the athletic department at the end of the high school quarter.

This may be something you have to discuss with your professor because colleges do not give quarterly grades.
