  • A way of eating that can be maintained for the long haul that supports the individual and planet.
  • The way food animals are raised has an impact on both human health and natural resources. Eating sustainable foods protects natural resources— land, water, animals, and insects— now and in the future.
  • In addition, eating sustainably can reduce the risks of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, �and cancer.

  2. The produce at the farmers market is often picked ripe and sold within a day.
  3. Local produce has a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
  4. Local meat and poultry often is raised on sustainable farms that don’t use antibiotics.
  5. Local does not always mean organic.
