In Middle School, using an AI tool at home is an option IF your parent has given permission.

Use of AI for schoolwork might be to….

• Gather ideas for a project
• Learn new information
• See examples about how to structure an idea
• Learn new ways to express an idea or a word

When should you list AI as a SOURCE?

Cite the AI tool in your list of sources when you have used ideas from the output to….

• guide your own words
• structure or organize your work
• gather ideas for your work

REMEMBER: You may not copy/paste output from an AI tool

If you use an AI tool to explain information, you must use your own words in your assignment.

#1: WHERE is it? Choose “website”

#2: WHAT is it?

Choose “AI Output”

#3: Fill in URL of AI tool, date, the prompt you used to get the output you will use.

If the output is an additional response to a repeated prompt, click this

Examples of follow-ups:

• to summarize the response in two sentences
• to ask for an alternative explanation
• to restate the answer using simpler language

If the output is creative vs. informative, click this
