Science : Build a Robot Companion Create a Robot companion based on the read aloud, “Boxitects”. Click on the picture to access the slideshow with the story and instructions to build your designs. | Freeze Frame! A freeze frame is when you act out a scene of a story or a picture, and then freeze at a certain point. This “frozen” scene is usually at an important moment (the funniest moment, the most dangerous, the most tense etc.). Think: when would be the best moment from “Tale of Two Beasts” to freeze the frame? Why? Plan: where will you start acting out the scene? How can you create your character? What interesting items could you find in your house to use to set the time and place? (Maybe stuffed animals, toys, blankets - or even your family members!) | Rehearse: Rewatch “Tale of Two Beasts” and think about what the actress in the video did as she was reading the story. How did you know when she was being a different character? Practice your scene, focusing on your body language, facial expressions, and voice - how can you represent character in different ways? How would your character walk and talk?
What facial expression would be the best for your freeze frame, that shows the character’s emotions? Perform: find an audience, act it out, then freeze the frame! Talk about all your choices and thinking afterward with them. |
| Block Towers! Use your own items from home to create your towers or click the images below for virtual blocks (click on the ‘more’ button to duplicate - don’t forget to change the colour) | How many different towers can you build with 3 blocks? How many different towers can you build with 4 blocks? How do you know if you’ve found all the towers? How could you keep track of your towers? Choose a method to record your work.
