CONTENT EXPLANATION

The District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar oversaw the rescue and relief efforts which were carried out by two battalions of NDRF, fourteen fire and rescue units of Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts as well as the locals. The rescuers had a hard time getting to the injured as seven bogies of the ill-fated train had piled on each other and the whole wreck was a tangled mass of metal.

The immediate response team of the railways at new Delhi was also alerted and a rescue train with doctors and medical staff was dispatched to the spot. The injured were admitted at Muzaffarnagar Medical College.

According to some eyewitness accounts, the train was travelling at high speed and the loco pilot seemed unaware of the repair work in progress on the track. It was alleged that the accident occurred owing to the carelessness and lack of proper communication between the authorities and the track maintenance department.

It was a great celebration of music and dance which saw a wide variety of Indian, classical and folk as well as western music and dance forms. during this week-long festival, many competitions, workshops, symposiums and open forums featuring leading artists were conducted.

The audience including students, teacher, educators as well as invited dignitaries witnessed live concerts from leading musicians and stage shows by reputed dancers in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and folk artists.

On the concluding day of this festival, a two-hour-long programme displaying a unique fusion of classical and western dance and music was put up. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest of the function and Dist. Collector Sh. Vimal kumar said that programmes like this remind us of our rich tradition and the need to protect and nurture it. The fest was a treat and delight for all music and dance lovers and was the highlight of our effort. Seeing the huge success of this fest our Principal assured us that attempts would be made to organise the event on a regular basis.
