Why Adobe Draw?

This is a good drawing app because:

  • You can squeeze TONS on a canvas
  • You can upload (and draw on top of) images
  • You can create up to 10 layers for easy image adjustment (size, placement) and duplicating images
  • You can colour match
  • You can colour-in an image with one tap
  • You can share drawings in many ways, including “Copy to Creative Cloud” which means you will never lose your drawings.
  • It’s free.

Getting started

  • Open the app.

  • Click on “Get a free Adobe ID” or sign in if you already have one. (This is only necessary the first time you open the app) Note: I had problems with this on an Android tablet.

  • The first thing you should do is add a grid. This will give you straight lines to draw on and write text on. It will also give you perspective when you zoom in to draw finer details. Choose “Graph” (iOS). You can delete the grid at any time by returning here and tapping grid off.

1.

(Android: Grids do not appear to be available. Go to Google and search a grid, save on camera roll and insert in bottom layer. You can hide it later by clicking on the eye icon. You must add layers to draw on top of the grid.)

Why would you want to use layers?

  • If you draw something and you want to resize it or place it somewhere else on the drawing.
  • If you want to flip an image (horizontally or vertically).
  • If you want to duplicate an image. Click here for example (rulers).

4. Tap on the layer to see other options.

Drawing on top of images

  • If you don’t have confidence in your drawing abilities, you can import an image, draw next to it or even on top of it, then delete the original image.
  • On your iPad, do a Google search for the image you want. I always look for Clip art images.
  • Click on Images > More > Search tools > Type > Clip art

Can also sort for usage rights
