WHAT IS THE COST?

The cost of Rotary varies across the District.

To cover the RI Dues, RI Magazine, District Dues and PETS fees clubs should charge approximately $165-$175 per year per member

Add-ons to the dues structure include: donations to the Foundation, cost of your meeting place, cost of club runner, costs associated with being Club President

Further add-ons to the dues could include: district and club installations, World Peace Dinners, Foundation events, etc.

COST (CONTINUED)

Many clubs run fundraisers throughout the year.

Make sure new members know, up front, if you have expectations of donations and/or attendance.

Explain “happy dollars” and 50/50 Raffles to new members, and expectations.

Many clubs have dropped their mandatory meal plans, and gone to a pay-as-you-attend plan. See if your venue will allow you to pay for the number of members present. (Many clubs have minimums with their caterers/restaurants, now is the time to renegotiate or change up your location)

The biggest reason new members leave Rotary is they did not have a clear understanding of the Financial Commitment from the club. Don’t let this be the reason members leave your club.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?

Prospective members want to know, “What’s in it for me?”

Have a clear story of what your club is all about. What projects does your club support? Do you have an Interact Club? Are you concerned about the Environment, Hunger, Homelessness, Drug Addiction? You don’t need to identify as a Caused-Based Club to have these concerns for your community. You just have to act upon it.

ASK prospective members where their passions lie and find a mentor within your club with the same passions. Many clubs support mini-grants for new members to work on a project in their passion area.

Mention Rotary Fellowships and other RI benefits to prospective members, too.

If someone is not right for your Rotary Club, recommend that they visit another club.

Clubs throughout the District meet for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. They also have varied personalities. Prospects can join clubs in the towns they reside in or the towns they work in.

Make sure they see the VALUE in Rotary, and that you see the VALUE in them.

MAKE SURE IT’S A MATCH
