Yes, I consider myself creative. This is because I can make my own original ideas, and they are not derived from something else (except for reference). I used my imagination to be able to get an idea for a project.

Do you consider yourself creative? Why or why not?

Fine art is creative art, made with imagination and the sole purpose to express the creator’s feelings. Craft is made for the purpose of using it for something. For example, you could make a pencil or eraser holder out of clay.

In sculptural and functional forms, the creator communicates thoughts and feelings by using colors and shapes. The flowing shape could represent peace, and a vibrant red could represent anger.

Family Memories Are Precious

My sculpture is a strawberry smoothie cup. The strawberry smoothie cup is a family memory because during the summers, we would make strawberry smoothies using our own recipes, and it would be a great time to catch up and talk, because we would be so busy with our own things during the rest of the year, so a moment where we all sit down and talk is precious.

What is the function?

The function of the clay is going to be to store erasers. I chose this function because everyone in our family needs to erase something often, and I would like to help my family members by placing a “take a free eraser” can where anyone can access it.

Where is the sculpture going to be?

The sculpture is going to be on the white counter at home, where everybody can see and access it, so that anyone can grab an eraser easily.

Who will use it?

Anyone in my family who needs an eraser will use it, whether it’s for homework or paperwork, or anything else when they need an eraser.

Critique

What was good?

I added a strawberry to the cup as a little design, and the structure is functional as I can take the lid out and then put it back in. I combined 2 pinch pots as my cup, and it’s smooth.

How could I improve?

Next time I could carve out some patterns into my cup, adding textures to it.

Conclusion

What are the new things/feelings I discovered about myself through this project?

I discovered that I like to use gradient in my work, because it looks more appealing when doing it with gradient.

How do I try my best effort to create a positive learning environment for everyone in the classroom?

I don’t bother others that are working, and I don’t talk a lot in art, even if I want to join in on the conversation. I try to respect others when they work.

How do I clean up for every art class?

I clean the table with a sponge, and I put away the remainder of the materials when needed.
