Report Your Child/rens Absence on Parent Connect

Parent Reported Absences

A new feature in Parent Connect will allow you to enter your student’s absence.

Simply log into parent connect and click on the link Report Absence

The Report Absence link will open a screen for you to complete.

If you have more than one student check the name of the student for whom an absence is being submitted.

Add the applicable dates. If you check the All Day flag attendance will be submitted for the am and pm periods. If you do not check the All Day flag times must be entered and attendance will be submitted for whichever periods meet during the time range (based on period schedule).

Back To School Packet

All families need to go into Parent Connect and register beginning August 9th for the upcoming school year. Last year the process of registration and re-enrollment shifted to online. If you have a student returning to Brighton Area Schools, you need to go to Parent Connect and complete the back to school information called, re-enrollment.

​

If you are having a hard time with Password or Pin, use the Lookup feature. If, for some reason,

you still have difficulty, please send an email to pc@brightonk12.com

for account assistance. No account information will be addressed via telephone.

​

Also, please note it is better to do the re-enrollment process on a desktop computer rather than on your smartphone.

Lunch Information

We will offer a hot lunch each day the students are present. You are also able to bring your own lunch too!

​

This year, Spencer students will eat lunch first and then head out to recess to ensure proper hygiene before eating. When the students arrive in the lunchroom, they will sit in assigned seats with their classrooms. Lunch will be 25 minutes and recess 20 minutes. We would encourage you to bring a water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day.

Drop Off Procedures

Please look over the following information. For the first week of school teachers will be greeting their students on the sidewalk at the front of the school. You may help your child find their teacher and return to your car. The week of September 11 students can be dropped off in the Student Drop-Off Zone. The Student Drop-Off Zone is the best option to keep traffic flowing and students arriving to school on time. Also, we won't have adults outside until 8:55. Please do not drop off your child before then.

Where do they go when they get dropped off:

• Drop off begins at 8:55 AM. Do not drop students off before this time, as there is no supervision.
• We encourage everyone to utilize the drop off zone. If you choose to park and walk your child to the building, please stop and say goodbye to your child at the crosswalk area and send them independently to their door. This will significantly alleviate congestion both on the sidewalks and also in the parking lot, as parents will be able to quickly return to their vehicles and depart, which will open up more parking spots.
• When entering the drop off zone, have your child and their belongings ready to exit the car. Remain in your vehicle and have your child exit from the passenger side. Children and adults should never get out of the driver’s side while in the drop off zone.
• Please pull all the way forward and then stop to let your child out. We should be unloading 6-8 cars at a time. Your friendly bus supervisors will wave you forward and let you know when to unload.
• After dropping off your child, wait for the cars in front of you to exit. Do not try to pass, as it puts students in danger.
• After 9:05 a.m. the drop off zone will be closed and you must park and walk your child to the main office to sign-in.

It’s Now the End of the Day…Now What?

The day is over, and your child is ready to tell you all about their day.

If your child is a pick-up, you'll walk up to the door indicated for the end of the day at 3:58. Wait outside the door patiently (please don't knock, we know you are there). Have your pick-up number in hand, and we'll match it up with your child's. If it's a match, your child's teacher will dismiss your child out.

​

If you have multiple children at Spencer, please go to your youngest child's classroom first. After, continue to your next oldest child and so on. Yes, I know this can be considered a pain. Once again, we'll make adjustments as needed as we continue to try our best.

​

If you forget your pass, you'll need to go to the office and show your pictured ID. When confirmed, you'll receive a temporary pass.

If you are late, your child will be sent to the office.

​

If your child rides the bus, your child's classroom teacher will dismiss those students to the bus from the classroom.

​

If you are late, please call and let us know; life happens. Saying that, please be on time, or make other arrangements. If Mrs. Boyd begins to see a pattern of late pick-ups, she will have a conversation with you.

​

These are your children, and when you are continually late, you send a more profound message to your child. Please be on time, and when you are, you send a deeper, positive message.

Bring Driver’s License/State ID for pick up

​

You will need your driver’s license/state ID to pick your student up at the end of the day. Please bring the driver’s license when you come to pick up your child during the day as well.

Student Pick-Up Door Number:

End of Day Pick Up Procedure: If you are picking up your child at the end of the school day, you will need to wait patiently outside your child's designated outdoor classroom door until a school staff member allows your child to exit. You will then be asked to present your Driver's Licence or State ID to a staff member. For safe schools practice, they will verify that the person picking up is listed on the emergency card.

Early Pick Up

Picking Up Early: If you must pick up your child(ren) early (before 3:58) please come to the Front Office Entrance and ring doorbell (button). Have your Driver's Licence or State ID ready to show office staff/security officer. Please scan the Pick Up QR code below with your cell phone. Also, the google link is below. Please consider saving these as apps on your phone for future use. Also, you can sign your student out at a scheduled time. We will have them waiting in the office for you if you do this. �An Office staff member will then call down your student from their classroom to be picked up. Always allow yourself extra time for this process for sometimes classes will be outside.

We all have additional responsibilities beyond the hours of school. We ask that you try to protect the learning time of your child.. We understand it may be more convenient to pick up your child a bit early to avoid traffic and lines. In doing so, the office staff is taken away from other responsibilities that come with the end of the day. It also is a disruption to the other students that are learning. If anyway, please try to protect all of the student's learning time and respect the office staff's time.

Bus Information

The Brighton Transportation Department is sending bus and route information soon for those that are in the district. If your child is to be picked up or dropped off anywhere but home, you will need to fill out an alternate destination form before school starts. Contact the office and we can email you the form.
