Introductions!
What is a Thespian Troupe?
A thespian troupe is group of performers/stage crew members/directors who work together to put on performances, serve the public, and spread theatre education/advocacy within their community. As you get involved in a thespian troupe, you are rewarded with hours that can eventually get you inducted officially into Pennsbury Troupe 830, and at graduation you could receive one of three accolades for your PHS drama participation.
Tuesday Night Live
What is Tuesday Night Live?
Tuesday Night Live (TNL) is Pennsbury Drama’s play on Saturday Night Live. It is a one-time event on Tuesday, October 13th! All of the skits are student-directed and it is a great way to get your foot in the door at Troupe 830!
When are auditions?
Auditions for TNL are September 18th and will be held 3:15-5:15. Scripts were due Sunday, September 6th.

Fall Drama - The Curious Savage
WHAT IS The Curious Savage?
The Curious Savage is a 1950 play by John Patrick about the elderly Ethel P. Savage and her greedy stepchildren, who commit her to sanitorium in hopes to inherit her vast wealth. In the sanitarium Ethel befriends the other “guests,” a colorful crew. In time, Ethel finds happiness with them and plans to spend the rest of her life among them. Meanwhile, the stepchildren, discovering that Ethel has hidden the family fortune, attempt to browbeat her into confessing where the money has been stashed.

Hours!
Hours are used to showcase your activity in Troupe 830 and the International Thespian Society. They can be earned throughout many things like attending meetings, performing, volunteering, and many other ways! To document what you do, log them into our upperclassmen and underclassmen binders. To be inducted into Troupe 830 this year, you need to have at least 100 hours by December 31st. Hours do roll over, so if you were active last year, you are not starting from scratch. If you were inducted as a junior thespian in middle school, then you will start out this year with 50 hours.
Pennsbury Drama Parents (PDP)
The PDP is an organization run by Pennsbury Drama parents that supports the performances and activities of Troupe 830. They help provide the necessary funds for annual events (dinners, transportation costs, etc) as well as sponsor several college scholarships!
The next PDP meeting will be September 23rd.

Costume Crew
Do you wanna work backstage, but aren’t interested in stage crew? The Costume Crew might be the perfect fit! They meet Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 3:15 -5:15 pm. If you are interested in joining the crew, contact Ms. Jennie or our head of costumes, Geeta Vinnakota (1500316@pennsburysd.org)
Senior One Acts
One acts are directed by our very own seniors. (Some are even originals!) Students dedicate time perfecting each one act to be brought to Bucks County Playhouse where actors are judged by a panel and get to experience fun workshops taught by professional actors and dancers. One acts are also performed one night only in the cave during our spring season. Auditions January 8. Performance is April 24 in the cave.

Dessert Theater
Every year we roll down the red carpet and reflect on the years accomplishments! Troupe 830s very own cabaret, where thespians get inducted,, underclassmen do a choreographed musical number, and our seniors take their final bow. Save the date May 8th this year!

Thespys
Presenting Thespys, or International Thespian Excellence Awards, gives Thespians the chance to receive constructive feedback on prepared theatrical material and technical designs. This is a multimedia “contest” where Thespians can submit performances, presentations, plays, and films showcasing their talents and skills to receive feedback and awards. You have to already be inducted or scheduled to be inducted into Troupe 830 by the end of your competition year to submit. Auditions will take place end of October/Early November
What are some examples of a thespy?
ITF
The International Thespian Festival (or ITF for short) is a week long event held at Indiana University of Bloomington! The week is filled with workshops from countless experts from Broadway and the film industry, many mainstage plays and musicals, one-acts, and live performances from special guests! There are also fun late-night events: karaoke, trivia, merch, and more! Students come from all over the world to share their love of theatre. You get to create your own ITF experience by choosing what workshops, one-acts, and events you attend.
The price estimate of this trip is $1500 which includes transportation, registration, food, etc.
