  • AmBisyon Natin 2040
  • Collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years. It describes the kind of life that people want to live, and how the country will be by 2040. As such, it is an anchor for development planning across at least four administrations.
  • A picture of the future, a set of life goals and goals for the country. It is different from a plan, which defines the strategies to achieve the goals. It is like a destination that answers the question “Where do we want to be?”. A plan describes the way to get to the destination; AmBisyon Natin 2040 is the vision that guides the future and is the anchor of the country’s plans.
  • The result of a long-term visioning process that began in 2015. More than 300 citizens participated in focus group discussions and close to 10,000 answered the national survey. Technical studies were prepared to identify strategic options for realizing the vision articulated by citizens. The exercise benefitted from the guidance of an Advisory Committee composed of government, private sector, academe, and civil society.

Area: EXTENSION

Higher education institutions are

mandated to render extension service

hand in hand with instruction, research,

and production. This is in recognition of the

vital role that colleges and universities play

in the development of communications,

especially for the underserved and the depressed communities.

18 of 60

The pursuit of excellence in any learning institution, especially if excellence serves as a descriptor of

its products and services, is a never-ending quest. HEIs, with fervid attempts, try to comply with the

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) memo orders to pursue the threefold function of higher

education research, instruction, and community service which is way better to weld them together. These

are meant to make Philippine HEIs stride along with universities across borders recognized worldwide not

only for the quality of their programs but, as in corporate business, for their social initiatives as well.

According to the mission of the Cebu Technological University System, the university shall

undertake research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of

specialization. As it is said, extension is not just a service but it is also imperative, especially in developing

communities where it plays a catalytic role in development. Extension programs involve student social development-

orientated experiences that allow them to contextualize their knowledge within actual social

and human experiences.
