“Virtual Councillor for EO Capacity Building”

What is the need?

• There is huge capacity building material available in the category Earth Observations (EO) and the training/resources are increasing as new material is added over time.

• It is very laborious for any person to scan through all the material available on the net and select a specific training course that most suits his/her needs

​

• There is a need to develop a system to aid the user in the selection process making it less laborious on the part of the user

What is the Challenge?

• The general users of the EO are policymakers that are more focused on the social implications and are generally disconnected from the data

​

• The EO user (in general) is not aware of what data or data-tool that may be most relevant to his social need

​

• The needs generally expressed by the user are not structured/ defined

Exploring the Solution?

• NLP-based system may be designed to analyze the Capacity Building needs of a social scientist/policymakers

​

• The input to the system could be text/voice as preferred by the user

​

• The identified needs would be matched with the available resources and the most suitable training/resources would be suggested

​
