TROPICAL RAIN FOREST

  • They occur in the areas which receive heavy rainfall
  • They are so dense(thick)
  • They always appear Green
  • Mahogany, Ebony and Rosewood are important trees
  • These forests are found in:�(a) North Eastern States

(b) Narrow strip of western slopes of western ghats

TROPICAL DECIDUOUS FOREST

  • They are also called as Monsoon forests
  • They are less dense
  • They shed their leaves in a particular season
  • Sal, Teak, Peepal, Neem and Shisham are important trees

THORNY BUSHES

  • This type of vegetation is seen in dry areas of the country
  • Their leaves are in the form of spines (spines means: short pointed outgrowth of a plant) to reduce the loss of water
  • Cactus, Khair, Babool, Keekar are the important bushes

MOUNTAIN VEGETATION

  • They are found in Mountains at a height between 1500 meters to 2500 meters
  • The trees of this vegetation are called as Coniferous forests
  • They are conical in shape
  • Chir, Pine and Deodar are important trees of these forests

  • They survive in saline water
