CLAUDIA DOREY

2 of 25

I do not approach drawing as an act of creation but as an act of transmission.

My role is not to invent images, it is to make visible what already exists beneath the surface of form. Each line I draw carries a single intention: to let presence take shape without distortion, to render tangible what moves beyond words.

I work at the threshold between the visible and the invisible. Not to explain, but to hold an open space where meaning can arise without force.

Recurrent themes in my work are faces and eyes. No two are the same, yet in every gaze something universal surfaces. I draw faces to trace that paradox: it is precisely through our singularity that we recognize each other, that diversity is not what separates us but what reveals our common depth.

Art is an act of faithfulness to something larger than myself. To a reality I did not invent and cannot own, only receive, and pass on.

I came to drawing not by searching for it, but by recognizing it when it found me. It became the place where I could be most honest. Where presence could leave no space for performance.

In a world of entertainment, my work seeks silence, clarity, and remembrance. Not as a retreat from life, but as a return to its center.

Art is my greatest medium of compassion and love.

PRACTICE

Self-taught and untethered by tradition, Claudia Dorey strips form to its essence. Her work holds space for the tension between presence and impermanence, chaos and order, ego and love. lines woven from movement, stillness, and the stories she carries across continents.

THE TOTEM OF EXISTENCE

September 2024 - 20 x 28 pouces/inches (framed/encadré)

Not framed - 18 x 24 inches

Medium: K. Salago Japanese paper and pen.

Health is determined by our capacity to be vulnerable with ourselves and, therefore, with the world. It creates authentic communication, which opens the doors to our true selves, the ones that know we are deserving of love instead of fear.Disease comes from a lack of communication between the body, mind, and soul. Over a period of time it is projected onto our environment. This drawing represents a symbol of existence. All elements that allow us to unite, bring life.Through water, ether, air, fire, and earth, we share love.We are equally deserving of receiving it.We are simply not equally equipped to receive it.When there is a will, there is a way.

CONNECTED

September 2024 - 36 x 36 inches/pouces

Medium: acrylic and oil pastel on canvas

Are we internal or external interpreters? The answer is that we are both. Our ego is simply reluctant to accept an opposing intellectual process. We consist of all thoughts on Earth, as that is our species' level of consciousness. There is no true margin or separation. We believe there is, due to the fear of opening our souls to the acceptance of the unknown.

The issue never lies in difference. The issue arises when we refuse to accept another person’s stage in life. In these moments, we no longer speak to the world through love but rather through ego. When a subject is addressed with love, it remains an uplifting educational discussion for all. We are one. We simply have different ways of presenting love in our world, but our souls feel it the same

EQUILIBRIUM; FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT

30 x 40 inches

Medium: Acrylic paint

Hardships are opportunities to recognize where we choose to change.

Transform what no longer resonates.

Hold ourselves accountable in times we fear to face.

We all have egos because without them we wouldn’t walk the

earth

We would be enlightened and never learn.

When we learn from pain it means we are being challenged to

improve, grow.

Finding acceptance in that is the greatest blessing.

Pain is inevitable at times although it is what we do with

it that dictates our state of peace.

CREATURE (Sold) - 2024

August 2024- 20 x 28 pouces/inches (framed)

Not framed 18 x 24 inches

Medium: K.Salago japanese paper and pen

What does it mean to be marginal?

Where does the margin lie?

We are creatures with the curse and gift of thought.

one that can direct us or create chaos.

A thought that is the product of fear is comparison. It is a scale that permits short-term control over disorder, disorder being the incapacity to flow and trust. It involves trying to impose constraints on the unknown. If we feel like outcasts, we must trust that through the gain of love, we will find our cast.

There is no true margin or separation. There is only the fear of the unknown that blocks us from what is.

UNION BLOSSOM

September 2024- 20 x 28 pouces/inches

18 x 24 inches

Medium: K. Salago Japanese paper and pen.

The way we view the world is the narrative we give our lives. We can always find ways to justify our fears, but doing so prevents us from healing and growing—something we all deserve. We are products of our environment, although we are responsible for choosing it. We set boundaries to use our bodies as a flowing space of love with a dash of flavor we call our identity. We deserve safety.

When we are willing, we find the tools necessary to clear our blurry vision.

We find the remaining flower in the burned fields.

We find the nutrients in the soil. We break free from believing we are undeserving and start seeing the magic and miracles of life… And those never disappear; we are sometimes challenged to see them.

FROM NATURE TO ROBOT,

FROM VULNERABLE TO ABSENT (SOLD)

August 2024 - 20 x 28 pouces/inches (framed/encadré)

Medium: K. Salago Japanese paper and pen.

Statistics show that the world has never been so lonely. We believe we can replace humans with technology. We are suffering from losing touch with our feelings. This is to such an extent that we believe we can program empathy. We no longer differentiate intention from outcome. We want people to be malleable, but we do not want the system to be.We are reaching a breaking point in humanity where the survival of our species depends on forgotten words: unity and community. For life to occur, there needs to be love, and it is currently threatened by our incredibly high global levels of fear demonstrated through anger, power, and defeat.

MOUSE

September 2024- 20 x 28 pouces/inches (framed)

18 x 24 inches

Medium: K. Salago Japanese paper and pen.

Our systems treat us the same way as we do lab mice.We perceive mice to be powerless, controllable, and weak, but they are resilient, adaptable, and vulnerable, just like we.Mice remind me of children’s stories; the limitless spirit, youthful innocence, imagination, and unpunctual trade.Children recognize the love in times of fear; they are curious explorers. We are all children with clocks that started to tick as of different dates.

TOO CAN

September 2024- 20 x 28 pouces/inches (framed/encadré).

Not framed 18 x 24 inches

Medium: k.Salago japanese paper and pen

As I walked through the jungle, I felt the entire world within me. My ancestors fought to survive while relying on community. I climbed a tree 20 feet in the air, feeling the breeze and hearing the jungle roar through me. I was stripped of the separations that humans have created with nature. After all, we all have the same mother: Earth. I could feel her, and with the company of my senses, I could provide for her through action.

I have been asked what the appeal of survival is. My answer is: it doesn’t feel like surviving. It feels like flowing. In these moments, the connection between us and nature elevate, and trust dominates. The greatest communication comes from the soul instead of the interpretation of our five senses.

SOUND

September 2024 - 20 x 28 inches/pouces (framed/encadré)

18 x 24 inches

Medium: K. Salago Japanese paper and pen.

Sound connects me to my surroundings, grounds me but simultaneously turns me into liquid form.It is an accumulation of vibrations that metamorphose me.It channels my being into many realities.

It feels like magic;I cannot see it,touch it, but I certainly feel it.It alters my mood,my predisposition to the world. When I listen to music, I must close my eyes.I follow the circuit the composition takes within my blueprint.I ask it to take my hand and show me its world. For those few minutes, I hold on, flying through a melody that expands into my body.I enter a great state of vulnerability. It creates a moment where I am transparent, yet no inch of me can hide.A quiet sense of royalty and pride;I become a flux of energy,

one with sound - something quite profound.I embody my creativity, the reason Earth has created me

My Self-portrait:

Is a warrior

The person who is alone but not lonely.

Walking freely.

The one that seeks depth,

seeks possiblity.

The one who loves water,

always works harder,

Dresses bold,

feels whole,

lives in a bubble,

is aware of their surroundings.

The one who loves life,

finds beauty in the little things,

views hardships as a wonderful lesson,

The one who is motivated by knowledge,

loves people but prioritizes time with their thoughts.

Someone who is all but on different metrics.

Someone who believes that fulfilling instrospection is the definition of success.
