What is “Global Literacy” ?
Global literacy is not to have a video conference with someone on the other side of the globe. It is not to have a Skype conversation with another school in another country.
Global literacy is to be connected with the common problems and issues that others have such as global warming, water shortage, climate change, starvation, poverty, identity, conflict, peace, belonging, etc.
Are you able to understand global education?
Can you switch between what is global and what is local?
Then, you are globally literate.

Global literacy requires a new kind of teacher who is willing to open up the classroom portals and connect students to the rest of the world not only through digital & media tools and virtual types of connections but also with knowledge and background.
As educators we must be learners and be willing to revise curriculum pathways, expand our instructional pedagogy and engage learners with the new literacies.
