ELPAC Testing

Prueba del nivel de competencia del idioma inglés en California ELPAC

All Initial ELPAC testing is currently being done for our students who have not taken the ELPAC assessment yet. These assessments are administered by our Bilingual Instructional Aides. All Summative ELPAC Assessment data from Spring 2023 has been sent home.

Cognitively Guided Math Instruction

1. Every student comes to math class knowing some mathematics.
2. Every student is capable of extending their mathematical ideas.
3. Knowing the trajectory of children’s thinking helps you know how to support that extension - ”What am I working toward?”
4. Details of children’s thinking support instructional decision making.
5. Must challenge our assumptions about what students know and are able to do.
6. Must create space for the participation of each and honor the different ways in which students are participating.
7. Identity shapes participation, so we want to position students competently.

ELAC Responsibilities

Responsabilidades del comité ELAC

Advise the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for ELs and submit the plan to the School Site Council (SSC) for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). This must happen before the adoption of the SPSA by the SSC.

Asesorar a la Directora y al personal en el desarrollo de un plan escolar para los estudiantes multilingües o EL y entregar el plan al Consejo Escolar (SSC) para que lo considere de incluirlo en el Plan escolar del rendimiento estudiantil (SPSA). Esto debe hacerlo el SSC antes de implementación en el SPSA.

The district shall provide:

• The ELAC receives training materials and training, planned in full consultation with committee members, to assist members in carrying out their legal responsibilities.

El distrito debe proporcionar:

Conduct a Needs Assessment to collect information regarding the needs of Multilingual Learners.

Needs Assessment must be administered by Spring 2023.

The ELAC Committee

• Parent of ELs constitute at least the same percentage of the committee membership as their children represent of the student body.
• Parent members of ELAC are elected by parents/guardians of English Learners.
• Los padres de estudiantes multilingües o EL deben constituir como mínimo el mismo porcentaje de miembros del comité que sus hijos representan dentro de la población de estudiantes.
• Los padres que son miembros de ELAC son elegidos por padres/tutores de estudiantes multilingües.

• Revisar el Plan escolar del rendimiento estudiantil SPSA del año escolar 2022-23 (Review the SPSA for 2023-24)
