LAND ART
Andy Goldsworthy & Richard Shilling
Student Examples
Andy Goldsworthy/Richard Shilling - Nature (Installations)
Week long Objective:
I will create an image from nature that will have form, shape, contrast, and abstraction in a composition.
Andy Goldsworthy & Richard Shilling -- carve, melt, or otherwise shape various natural elements into often temporary works of art around the globe in what is known as "land art." Because much of their work is either geographically inaccessible, impermanent, or often both—they make photographs of projects available to collectors and connoisseurs.
Land Art- refers to a movement of artists with wide ranging goals, but all created in nature, employing such materials as stones, dirt, and leaves. Most works are sculptural. Many earthworks are intended to help us to better understand nature. Some demonstrate the inherent differences between nature and civilization, often pointing out artists' desires to understand and arrange natural processes.

For this outdoor installation you will gather multiples of a natural item such leaves, rocks, sticks, blades of grass, flowers, etc. You will then create an interesting composition with your found objects and set them up and photograph your installation. You can make this into a video too.
