How We Hold This Space

We come to this conversation as a diverse group of human beings. We come from culturally different experiences and geographies. We carry our histories, affiliations, and communities with us. We speak from our own personal experiences and understand that those experiences may vary from one another.

We respect each other’s values, traditions, and perspectives. We respect experiences as valid information and value all voices and perspectives. We show up as our authentic and whole selves. We refer to folx using their preferred gender pronouns reflected in their Zoom profiles. We seek clarification when needed.

We treat this space as a sensitive and confidential container. We ask that nothing that is shared privately be repeated publicly or in any way that would compromise the identity of any participant. Recordings will only be replayed by the Impact Visionary team.

We come together in service of advancing wellbeing at each BUILD organization. We care for ourselves in any way we need and prioritize our wellbeing throughout the session.

Reflection

What are the biggest challenges for your team/organization around this issue?

What are the existing strengths and assets (or practices) that you have as a team or organization that can help address these challenges?

15 of 27

EXAMPLE:

Organisational Priority Area:

Resilient people > Personal Wellbeing > Mental health

Challenges

  • We don’t have the allocated funding to provide mental health support for everyone on our team

  • As a leader, I don’t have a mental health background so I’m not sure where to start or how best to support my team

Strengths & Assets

  • Diverse team & skills: musician, yoga teacher, artists who could bring their knowledge to this issue

  • Strong interest and commitment to wellbeing by the entire team

  • Access to nature/green spaces nearby

Small Group Discussion

In terms of your individual wellbeing, what do you need in order to improve organizational wellbeing in the priority area you selected?

For example, what kinds of safe spaces, routines, practices, support systems, accountability mechanisms, processes, engagement? Try to be as specific and practical as possible.

12 minutes!

22 of 27

Example

  • I need examples of easy workplace mindfulness exercises that I can use with my team

  • I need more knowledge on how to recognize trauma or PTSD

  • I need support or a template on how to build wellbeing into our planning systems (workplan, organizational/strategic plan)

  • I need strategies for how to best advocate for myself around creating boundaries and how to communicate my needs to my team members

  • I would like weekly dedicated time for my team to be able to reflect and check in on mental health

  • I need accountability support around taking breaks or time off so that I can recharge in order to support my team
